If there are not frequent stops at points of intrest along the way or photo ops the kids will start to hate it (ice cream is a good rest stop )stoped at a park lake side ,thats what the boy talked about for weeks .The wife and I ride for about 6 hrs total riding time in a day otherwise she is not having fun ,we have ridden further but that is now the new guide line for us .when its fun ya get to do more trips with family . We did 8 hrs with one gas stop and it rained coming home one time and my rear bearings went on the cbr900 ok then lock up and slide in the rain ,wifey was soaked cold tired and eyes were glowing red We being bike freeks could put a couple tanks of gas through in a day and ignore the munkybut but family is there to spend time with you doing somthing you like .as mentioned everyone has a differant situation ,just trying to helpout
Thanks guys. I'll have to stop at least every 100 miles or so for gas! I've mapped out a route that is about 45 minutes of interstate and then around 200 miles of twisty. That probably is plenty for one day? I can cut it short if I get tired, but didn't want to run out of road to hang sack on!

Cool. Maybe I'll map a longer route and be prepared to call it a day early if necessary. No smokes for me, but I do have to stop for caffeine.
I"m one to stay on the road, as well. Most of my buddies would rather socialize than ride. Drives me crazy! You gotta' pay attention to your own status, though, and keep it safe. Enjoy.
CJC , One werd 'Food' You have got to eat , Not lots of it just little and often Like a botel of Mowntin Due and a snickers , Or red Bull iff you have it over there , there s enuff glucose there to keep your blood shuger levels up for six haurs , eat that twice a day and you will be buzzing ,plus your coffee

When me and my mates go out for a day 200'milse plus ,befor I start what ever time of day I eat 1/2 a tube of Rowntreys frute pastels ,and the uther half at lunch ,or a cadburys caramel , one to start with and one for with lunch ,there is enuff glucose in theys to keep you going for 24'Hures , I dont knoe iff you can get theys where you are , theys were standed NATO Ishue ,when I did my bit for Q&C ,Iff you did not have eney thing ells theys wood keep me going ,and I still do it to day ,and iff I dont I get tiyerd very quickley ,and lous consentracion ,Then I get grumpy and bent and start kicking cars ,that I am lousing pashence with that get in my way , you must eat shugerey sweet things even iff you dont feel like it
Fluids. You need to be hydrated. Once you're actually thirsty, it's over. Water, Powderade, Gatorade, anything that actually hydrates you w/o caffeine. Caffeine is a diuretic, which basically dehydrates you. Food & water, lots of water. I stop every 100miles or so to stretch, pee, and drink. Every other 100miles I stretch/pee/fuel/drink. 500 mile days are good, 600 gets you farther, but you better be mentally & physically fit. Easily done here in the west, but when you can see the curvature of the earth in front of you, you want to go!
