How light is the Akra Ti System? Answer here.

So I have both sets of exhausts here so have done a comparison for us geeky weight saving types.

This comparison is between a standard '07 Superduke steel system with Akra slip on round silencers and a full titanium system with Akra Evo silencers. (My slip-on silencers have been re-skinned in carbon and shortened by 40mm so they will be slightly lighter than the standard slip-on.)

DOWN PIPES
Standard steel - 3.350 Kilos
Ti - 1.490 Kilos

Ti - 591 g
Those bores have increased from 50mm diameter to 55mm

Standard Slip-on (carbon, shortened) - 1.274 Kilos
Ti Evo non round - 1.546 Kilos

Total weight of Standard Superduke Steel system with slip-on Akras - 6.106 Kilos

Looks like there is about a 50% weight saving for fitting the Ti system even though the Evo silencers are heavier than the round slip-on ones. This should give me about a one second a mile advantage while trying to keep up with Klinky and Shade on those mad Sunday runs.

Yes! You totally sussed me out Shade!

I decided that I'm such a shitty welder that I'm going to push the bastard SD up the road tomorrow morning to a garage and get them to weld the nut onto the stud good and proper rather than do it myself tonight. I only get one chance at getting this stud out - and I don't want to have to drill the fooker out!!!!

So I'm at a loose end. Amy is in Spain for a break with her parents so I'm doing geeky SD stuff on my own and getting drunk on a bottle of good wine. The house is filled with my SD in bits, tools everywhere, smells of oil and petrol, loud music, baby toys tidied away, Superduke.net on the Mac. Cooking some nice chicken and rice with some fresh snow peas. I'm as happy as a pig in shit!

If my missus caught me putting my exhaust on the kitchen table, I wouldn't be able to ride my Superduke after the damage she did to me.

Nice work Bic, that Akro Ti system looks great and the best thing is the bikes on a diet not me!

I've got my original standard silencers here. I tried to weigh them to add to this thread but they overwhelmed the kitchen scales! I tried them on the bathroom ones but they are too light to register. They are fooking heavy though! Maybe they really are 9K

PS. I'm on a diet, trying to lose three stone, (sorry US guys, I use grammes and kilos for everything but body weight, it's a UK thing I think), and I've lost one stone two pounds in three weeks from eating smaller portions and stopping the booze and getting a new bike to cyle to work instead of using the SD. It's works!

Just goes to show that you can shed more weight for less cash by dieting instead of looking for bling titanium and carbon add ons.

Ash. No they will not because the bores on the slip-ons are 5mm diameter smaller. I would have done this, (because I like my silencers better than the Evos), but if I get a sleeve made up to make them fit I will be restricting the bigger bore of the Ti system and therefor defeating the performance advantage it gives.

I guess there might be an Akra version of the old style round slip-on silencers that fitted to the full Ti system but I'm not sure. Not sure if the full Ti system was only supplied to be compatible the new style Evo silencers.

That's a good amount of weight saved! I was expecting about 1.5 - 2.0kgs but nearly 3 is awesome. Plus it looks great.
