How tough is an SD?

#2looking forward to some replys on this one as i have been thinking the same, this is my 1st vtwin always been a in line four man last bike 07 R1 and if you could use all the revs your name should be rossi i love riding a bike like i have stolen it, hope the SDR is up to it??

#3Mine has 40,000miles to date, im the second owner and if its gona choke and die Il be the one to kill it, I ride the piss out of everything I own I ride my 900rr balls out and on the back wheel whenever I get the chance, shes got 65,000miles racked up. I hope I can get the same out of me SD.

#4I have ridden the piss out of mine and with no slipper clutch and GP style shifter,, under pressure I was shifting the wrong way and sliding the ass from here to never, just damn lucky I did not crash it but I guarantee you, I thrash the bitch and red-line in the first 3 gears before I even think of shifting, thrash her HARD I have, so I think if anyone could blow one up it would be me for ignorance more than skill. I do not have but 8000 miles on her but those were not pampered miles, the only TLC was from very frequent oil and filter changes, she is my battle axe. She has taken some real punishment from me, I am not afraid to rev her to red every chance I get. If I treated me wife like that it would kill her in 5 min's!

#10I ride the bollocks off mine too in all weathers. 2007 with 23,000km. Reliability has not been what I would say stella I'm afraid. Blown water pump seal and blown cylinder gaskets. Took me a year to get the terrible fueling just about perfect for me which was my biggest gripe. It's never let me down or stranded me but as you can see its had is fair share of niggling faults to dampen my overall experience. When push comes to shove however I am happy with the purchase with no regrets. It was the perfect bike for me at the time of purchase.

40000 miles takes my crown as highest miler on here I think!! Respect due. I'm wussing out and going all "fair-weather-rider" this winter....partly due to high petrol prices (which are now improving a LOT) and also the Sony PSP I bought that I love to play on the train to work. Although its nowhere near as much fun as the SD!!
I really hope this bike is capable of mega miles cos I wanna keep it for at least another year or even two!
