the other day bought Shell gas .... don't usually buy Shell gas - almost always Union 76 or Chevron. Anyway - after some riding and running some lower rev's in 5th or something i thought i may have hit some little bump and shut the throttle all the way OFF cause i felt a slight hesitation. And after some time i may have felt like i did that on a couple more occasions but it's so subtle i didn't really think anything of it - although things just didn't feel all that right with the ole SD as before.
Went through that tank of gas - ANYWAY stopped at same station today on the way out of town and filled up the SD again , on the way up to Alices Restaurant i'm feeling that Subtle hesitation coming back , SHEIT ! Now i'm sure something silly is up !! 30 miles from home i'm starting to worry if i'm gona break down. The bike starts HUNTING really bad. Surging dropping back surging dropping back - Bucking like a SOB !!! At least if i can make it up to Alices Restaurant theres lots of people there maybe i can find a way to get the bike back home in the event it actually fails me and lets me stranded there.
Make it to Alices and some of the regulars i meet up with there ask me how's the SD. I say - it's giving me some mysterious issue. 4 or 5 of em all give me differing scenarios of what it may be and i give a couple of my own. Now Bruce ( one of em ) says to me "Maybe you got some bad gas" ! That was kinda the LAST thing i thought might be happening - cause when it started bucking on me it was pretty severe.
Soooo i tell him "Ok i'll get some injector cleaner / gas additive inside the store there and see how it goes. Picked up the additive and put 2/3rds the content ( enough for 9 gallons of gas ) into the SD tank and give the sign of the cross and pray ( Just kiddin ) anyway - start to suit up and get prepared for the ride home gearing myself up for what might be worst case scenario i fire bike up and let er idle while suiting up. Someone comes up to me and wants me to walk over to where he's fiddling with something so i shut bike down and spend 10 minutes BS'ing with the guy by his truck - Walk back over finally to the SD - fire back up and hop on and start my ride home.
NOT ONE FOOKIN HICKUP ! SHE RAN FLAWLESSLY all the way home and i even stayed out longer since running so well.
So i'm just hoping all it was might just be a bad tank of gas .... I was thinking Sensors/ coils who the hell knows what else....
But the incident got me thinking about that member here who couldn't get his Bike sorted out with the hesitation problem he was having - he saying he finally sold the bike because he even brought it in to KTM shop and they couldn't dial it in either..... I'm wondering if he got some Sheit in his gas like i did. I tell you my bike was running like hell and it was right at about 4,000 rpm , would be kinda a shame he sellin his bike if it was only bad gas.
So i'm keepin my fingers crossed for now that the symptoms i was having on bike do NOT come back !!!
