Insurance modding question

Having sold my SD a while back, lots of mods but only the cans were disclosed to insurance (not on purpose, just a bit forgetful)

Sold that on and bought a new 690SMC, got dealers to fit a full ti akra system, yet again I forgot to disclose this. Only remembered when it got stolen wrecked and recovered (received full payout though )

Anyway I have now got a 990SM (yes I do now bleed orange) with akra cans fitted which I have told insurance about, fine no extra cost. So thought I would be Mr Legal and notify them that I was about to fit new airbox and power commander, expecting a 'yes that'll be fine £50 please'. But I was told 'no sorry'

These bikes NEED these mods, what would you do, and do you tell ins. about every detail?

Made this a poll so no-one will incriminate them self.

Oh yeah the SM kicks the SDs arse.

There isn't an option for only telling them about the major things (eg exhaust, airbox, etc). Thats what I do. Things like the orange fluid caps, I haven't bothered with.

My insurance company never asked the question and its not on any of the forms, I only asked for an agreed value as the bike has a lot of expensive extras

Having mods on your bike and not disclosing them can invalidate your insurance if you need to claim.

I never used to tell them HOWEVER when I put them on the price comparison site it made no difference to the price, (sure some did not give a quote as was modified) that was with airbox, akras, slipper, R&G's etc, I even disclosed the Redbull Graffix as a paint job 200GBP fully comp

(That was with Dial Direct insurance)

Yeah I got nicked in the early 80s for using endurance racing tyres on the road (marked not for road use) and hence invalid insurance,

The morons had no idea that those tyres were much better wet or dry, cold or hot than the road tryres available at the time and hence much safer,

I can still see the confusion on stupid old judges face as I explained this fact to him,

Nowadays we can buy and use what are basically track tyres on the road
