Insuring the bling thing

Following on from the recent theft of Ironlung's SD started me thinking about the quality of my insurance. My policy for my standard SD is fully comp. I told them about the Akros, as they were fitted by dealer when it was new, but apart from that the insurance company doesn't know anything else I've done.

So if it got stolen today I would get compensated for the price of a used '07 bike. But, like Ironlung and lots of you guys, I have done a load of mods. which I would not see any compensation for. I hardly dare tot them all up but if you list Motobox, carbon bits, brake levers, handlebars, rear sets, numberplate hangers, indicators, PC111, etc. we're talking about over £1000 to replace.

So my question is whether you can insure this lot without making the premiums so high that it's not worth doing? If I ring the insurance company to ask then I may start a ball rolling, (that I can't stop), because I'm admitting that the bike has more stuff on it that makes it more likely to be stolen. But if I don't tell them and it gets stolen maybe they would not pay out because I've not told them it was blinged.

What's the forum wisdom on this?

bic, (worried)
I told 'em and took the hit, as long as it's not over a 4 or 5% increase in power they don't seem too bovvered...
