Is a 40,000km SDR likely to cause me grief?

So my faithful '05 SD is officially a write-off thanks to a poorly driven Mitsubishi Lancer

But on the upside, its time to start hunting for my next ride.

Question to those with high(er) mileage bikes, I've spied an 08 SDR with 40k kms on the clock (thats 25,854 miles for the yanks)

How is the SDR / LC8 for higher milage? i've read decent things & bikes running fine in the 60,000+ ,
But high milage bikes always make me uneasy from a resale, overall reliability and general component failure standpoint.

Any tales of caution worth sharing?

Cheers
Do you know when it was last serviced? Valve checks/adjustments? History of the bike (has it ever been down, any known problems, etc)? I'm pretty sure No. 47 is very familiar with high mileage 990 as he has a high mileage 08 SDR I think.

Mine is currently at 18k and there doesn't seem to be anything to worry about yet.
I bought a 45,000 mile SD from a member on here, it was fine, it had been looked after though.

I have heard of ADV bikes hitting 90,000 miles with no major issues.

As with any used vehicle, it's more to do with how it's looked after than the mileage
Got an 06 with 43000 km on it, frquent oil changes and valve checks carried out when required. Not had an issue with it yet, uses no oil and still goes hard.

My buddies 08 SD had just under 60K miles on the clock before being taken out by a squid on a GSX-R. The bike was ridden hard but well maintained. Ran fine up until it's demise.

As any one who knows Dino can attest, he doesn't sit around and watch the grass grow while out on a ride!

Thanks so much for the advice guys,
Yep i'm pretty familliar with the SD's requirements from my '05 & was happy to work on it myself, regular oil, services, TuneECU remaps, exhausts, SAS etc.

Good to know these things can last if well looked after.

I think i'll go check it out & see what condition it's in & what vibe i get from the owner. If he's been a good owner, it could be well worth a look.
Mine , a 2009 SDR, did almost 35000 km. Is for sale. Serviced well so no problems!
