Is it worth it to avoid ethanol fuel?

With concern about the gas tanks, I've been wondering if I should go out of my way to not use gasoline containing ethanol as much as possible. thoughts?

(I think here in the states it's between 5 and 10% ethanol added)

I would not avoid it if avoiding put you out of your way buy more than twenty miles at fill up time or fifty cents a gallon more for the stuff that wont fucck up your brand new ride. You bought a bike that barely made it back together, that all on here said was a hopeless wreck and now you worry about the mumps?
My bike gets Chevron super and I have been fine with just a swell, you should be swell too.

if i could avoid ethanol i would. the alcohol in it does terrible things to the resins used to form plastic tanks, basically causing them to expand and contract excessively. do a search for bubbling paint on ducati tanks, it has been a huge problem. the same manufacturer makes KTM tanks (acerbis or acrebis or something). the ethanol is not a problem for your motor, only for the tank.

i do not let US gas sit in my tank over winter...the ethanol seems to have a greater impact when allowed to sit unused for too long. if you are burning up the gas, it may be less of an issue.

the mumps is the nice problem... im still thinking that the piston bores will wear faster too (engines running on methanol have this problem big time, and require replacement of rings all the time), as the alcohol washes the oil off of the bore, causing premature wear.

ok it it is not as bad as methanol, however the principle is the same and it will do this to a lesser extent.

Also, the fuel you have over there is terrible, was very concerned after looking at the pictures of linga's heads.

using E10 is not the problem.

STORING E10 gas in you tank is the issue. use startron, stabil marine or lucas oil ethanol treatment if your bike sit for more than a week.

I have 36k miles on my SDR. E10 fuel since day one. no issues with hose, seals or o-rings. tank has warped a quite a bit. to the point where tank won't fit with front metal bushing and side covers' holes won't line up perfectly.

I'm still using original seal ring after r/r the fuel filter.

Considering the SD has a fuel tank prone to warping due to alcohol, I go out of my way to get non-oxygenated fuels as much as possible. Definitely do not store the bike with any ethanol blend.
Another issue the government glosses over is the fact that alcohol has half the energy density of gasoline, so the higher the percentage, the less mileage you get (I know, most of us don't worry about that to much with this bike!), on my BMW if I run non-oxy fuel I get a good 10% better mileage, and it runs much smoother.
Here in the states you can google "non oxygenated fuel (plug in your city)" and usually find quite a few stations that sell the stuff. It's a huge issue for the power sports industry; personal watercraft, snowmobiles, atv's and other stuff that sits more than it gets used, since the alcohol can settle out and cause all kinds of issues with corrosion and rot.
