Lucky day for him then, although a lot of those lasers are widely regarded as being not fit for measuring a bikes speed correctly so you have to wonder if that's why the speed was "lost"

Its difficult to get a reading off a bike as the prolaser really needs a flat surface to reflect off it i.e. a car bonnet or windscreen, bikes are like stealth bombers in the way they dont reflect a radar very well and not much surface area, you can get a reading if the beam returns but you have to be a good "shot".

I would just say he never got a reading in the first place.

As for the warning I would take it more of a keep your eyes open next time

I have a diffuser fitted to my van which deflects the laser beam - Costly but it works.. Not legal tho'.

Shame!

Yup I think it was his lucky day. I'm surprised the cop didn't give the bike the once over and find a defect. It is possible that the cop was a biker and/or was sympathetic. In fact, with no offense to Dan there are some good cops - I've got one as a brother-in-law and he rides with me and friends. Sold my BMW to a cop from your area and he seemed Ok as well but overall just your friends lucky day. I'll check up on the thing about a warning being on record.

Jail time for speeding .......your kidding, that is one sure way to slow you down a bit. Anti Hoon laws here in West Oz result in anything over 40kmh results in confiscation of vehicle for 28 days for first offense, 3 months for a second and confiscated to be sold or crushed on the 3rd. A doctor here had his Lamborghini Murciélago impounded for 3 days after a mechanic was was busted test driving it 170 kph.............bloody nanny state.
but go over 80kph over the limit and its instant jail... just makes it so you dont stop em!!! a bit of dead or alive style

i know i wouldnt stop at those speeds... we dont have choppers here yet so there isnt anything that you cant out run

I know for a fact here that the cop ST1300 are limited to 190kph this is still quick but givin the circumstances (and local road knowledge) I think I would give them a run...............wont die trying though.
