Grendel had a very bad weekend. On his last major trip he was getting some oil weeping from the oil line located just behind the oil filler cap on the oil tank. It was not much. So he took the bike apart to suss it out. Supply line looked good. He performed the service recall diagnostic on the oil tank casting (a special tool to ensure the casting did not block the supply line). Everything checked out fine. He cleaned it up and put it all together again.
Fast forward to this weekend. Grendel headed out from home to meet his buddies for a nice spirited ride. It was about 20 miles to the rendezvous point. He started with some twisties and was feeling good. Got into the valley and was straight lining. He had to reposition his right foot because he must have stepped in some mud before getting on the bike. After repositioning his right boot for the third time he looked down and the entire right side of the bike was coated in oil!
Pulled over, pulled the bodywork off and oil was pouring from the supply line. Read tyre was coated on the right side. Grendel is very happy he was straight lining because any right hand turn would have landed him on his ass.
He thinks there is a crack in the casting where the supply line attaches. Grendel is not a happy beast.
