#5The springs in the SDR forks are heavier than standard SD. They are probably suggesting you should match them for a balanced bike I guess. I have an SDR shock but didn't change my springs.

Early SDs (05/06) run 9.0weight springs
All other SD & SDRs run 9.5weight springs. Damping adjuster are different on SD & SDR forks but that doesnt make any diffrence to your situation.
Several of us here run the SDR shocks on on our bikes with standard front ends - its all in the set up of the bike!
Your 1st mod should be to push your fork tops flush with the top fork clamps after fitting the SDR shock

#10I have actually pushed my forks 4mm past flush into the yokes. Always felt like she might wash out when pushing hard in corners. Certainly feels better to me anyway.

#12Hey Gezza47 mate. I know they are selling this for way under the retail price but I think that it's a bit overpriced. Depends on how you look at things I suppose. I spent a long time waiting to get my hands on a SDR 180 shock and eventually got one from a racer that ran it on his SD in the battle series from a few years ago. It had been revalved and set up by Racepace, a top race shock specialist. I paid £140 I think.
I have it on my bike now set up by the guy at HMracing and have it with the standard forks set up. My original standard white shock was at its maximum setting, (for sag with my fully kitted weight at the time, (14.5 stone), and the SDR spring was then set at the absolute minimum for same weight to get the same sag.
By the way, there's a track day at Brands that a few of us are going to on the 18th July. Last time we met I said I'd let you know when we were all going. So get the shock and book the day. £145 and a free evening session thrown in. You'll love it!
