I love my 07 Superduke it's faster than the standard ones because it's BLACK with crash protectors, ackras, meta alarm, BLACK bagalux tank cover, carbon hugger it's MINT only 2600 miles. Went to Spain last year with my Ventura luggage system which now won't fit because the Ackras have been fitted and it was OK, at home as a street bike fantastic and I love the looks and the attidude. BUT today I tested the market part ex against a new fireblade offered 5300.00 I fell off my chair, it's just not worth parting with it for that, have inquired about part exing against RC8????????

The trouble is when you don't part ex because you think it's not worth it you end up with more bikes than you need, I have 4 at present. The KTM ha dropped nearly 40% in less than a year. Put's you off buying another KTM!!!

When am I going to learn, it's probabley cheaper to rent.

Dude,

I reckon you'd get way more than that private sale! Sell off your accessories seperately, restore the bike to original state and advertise. It'll go for more.
its never worth buying a new bike and then selling within a year.
Its not a KTM thing , its the same for any bike or car , its said you loose 17.5% [vat] as soon as you take a new vehicle out of the showroom.
Then you have the biggest drop in the first year plus you are trying to sell when the 08 bikes are due.
I try and keep my bikes two years min, usually three and get some value for money out of them.
Think yourself lucky you don't own a Kawasaki!!!!
I never buy newI buy as new as possible, you lose to much, had my 06 duke a year now worth 5k bought for 6k oh well it's only money

Think the triumph street triple should hold it's value well they are practically out of stock till the summer.
tis true Dan. I follow tha same path as you mate, bought my SD 6 months old with less than 2k miles for £5800....now it's a year old and i dunno what its worth now but it's not loast as much as it woulda done if I'd have bought it new. Plus it was as good as new when I got it anyway so it felt new to me and I didnt have to run it in. result.

I plan on keeping it for at least 2 years. At the moment theres not a bike out there to replace iot that I can afford...so I dont even bother looking around.
Shade defo agreed great minds think alike I plan on keeping mine for the the rest of this year and see whats about at the end, I have never had a sports bike I like my upright bikes too much, but would be tempted with an RC8 however very expensive, the triumph speed triple is good but I would not buy it, but dont like the looks, Tuono nearly bought an 06 one but thankfully a duke came along and bought that.

The Venom looks a bit dodgy looking if you ask me (at the front anyway), but would defo be up for another KTM.

Roger is your an 06 bike on an 07 plate or an 07 bike?

5500k would be about right for an 06 shape 07 plate bike as you could pick them up for 5999k, however and 07 model should be around 6k ish surely?
i like them new, this way you know how they were treated, that they were broken in properly, and that noone but you had their hands in her. . but you do loose a lot of money, that's true. i only buy new what i think i'll keep for a long time.
with second hand, you'll never know - maybe she was crashed bad, and rebuilt? may look like new, but the frame is slightly bent, or maybe previous owner never changed oil, or run it with wrong/low oil overheating it for extended periods of time, maybe she was raced, or worse stunted, or who knows what else. checking compression in each cylinder and cutting open old oil filter will tell you alot, but not everything, and since my life rides on the bike, i want to be 99% sure i can trust her. peace of mind is worth extra money.
but then i'm not planning on selling her any time soon, and i do have the money to get her new in the first place
