One of the nicest exhaust pipes I have seen. What was the shipping cost?
Did they mention anything about remapping the ECU?

Looks like they are doing a full system, did you get any detail on the headers ie are they a larger tube than stock aka the SDR header. I assume they will interface with the original Y piece nice to see someone else making a header besides akrapovic.

Re mapping, I'm guessing that it wouldn't matter if you didn't do it once you had these fitted, but it would run smoother with just the dealer Akra map installed.

My Leo's were installed on my bike before I bought it but the previous owner hadn't had the bike mapped and it worked fine. About a year after I bought it, I got the Akra map installed when it was being serviced and I noticed that it was smoother to ride, so I guess it would be the same with these cans.

Should be even smoother if a custom map was installed

Fresco exhaust is a quite good product but it isn't our favourite exhaust in Italy. It's quite hard to find someone who installed them! Anyway they looks great even if I don't know if they are European approved!
About remapping it's better remap when you changed the exhaust at least use Akra maps.

Sls.

Yeah, I'm liking these and their prices are good. Looks like they would knock up headers if required too. I like the look of their conical pipes. I reckon they'd suit the SD too, although the ones in the pic are good too...
Good find.

If you haven't looked already, they do do header pipes, stainless or titanium. They quoted me 490euros delivered and thats obviously in stainless, they also say it caters for the lambada sensors, once I get the cans I'll make a decision on the headers. As soon as they come I'll post the piccies.

In comparison to stock cans, do they stick out more towards the tyre? i have a very small gap between the stock cans and my fender eliminator. They quoted me 591 euros to ship em to USA, stuck on these or yoshi's.

I just bought an '06 SD and it came with the original exhaust system installed. It also came with a beautiful pair of Fresco oval carbon cans. The dealer where I bought the bike installed the OEM system because they said the aftermarket mufflers are not street legal, and therefore, they cannot legally sell me the bike with a fresh TÜV certification in Germany if the exhaust system has been modified. I did not find this surprising, however, in reading through all of the documentation that came with the bike, I found some sort of certificate of compliance for the Fresco mufflers. I have limited skills in German language and tried my best with Google Translate.

The certificate mentions a specific European Standard (97/24/CE du 17 juin 1997). The Fresco website also makes mention of this fact. http://www.fresco-exhaust.com/990-super ... p-364.html

I emailed Fresco directly to ask the question, but he didn't exactly answer my question.

"Our exhausts are approved e3 or Europeans. This standard is voted by the European Parliament and for all vehicles 2 and 3 wheels. It covers the whole cycle of the vehicle and anti polution standards, sound, etc ...This is a long text a bit pointless as everything is done by Europe. Good day."

My long-winded question is this: Is it possible that these pipes are street legal in Germany? If you have some insight with respect to bike modifications and the law as it applies to Germany, then I'm listening. I recently moved here, I don't know the law, and I don't speak German. Common sense is telling me to just leave the bike with the OEM pipes, and that the carbon cans will at the very least attract the attention of the Polizei.

Thanks.

If the cans have the e3 number stamped in, and you install the db killers, the cans should be road legal.

hmm. Indeed, they are stamped with e3. Wish I could find a definitive answer for what's legal in Germany, though. The dealer says that modifying the factory exhaust in any way is against the law. I don't want to believe that.

The e3 mark is a european thing. Cans marked with it (and with the decibel killers fitted) are legal for road use in whole of Europe.
