Kriega vs pacsafe tail bags?

Please advise.
I've read about 30 threads about luggage for the SDR and it seems like the best options are the pacsafe tailsafe and the Kriega US20[?]
Why all the concern about tail bags when there're the Kriegas? Is it because the tail packs fit more stable whereas the Kriegas are a combination of backpack and tail pack?

how do you fit a kriega tail bag to an sdr?? pics please, thought you needed a rear seat for straps to go under to hold the tailbag in place. i have just brought a tankbag but dont no if i can be arsed with taking it off everytime i re fuel. 3000 mile trip

The only type of tank bag I would fit would be the type that mounts to the fuel cap assembly, as ALL others will soon scratch/dull the finish of the tank/side panels. Tail bag all the way.

I have a 10 litre kriega and it works great.

But for longer trips I went for the pacsafe. It is 40 litres or something, and I would have to have a 20 litre and 2x 10 litre Kriegas to match that and I prefer 1 unit. In fact I would probably go for a normal water proof pack sack instead.

The down side with a packsack (and Kriega bags), is that you roll them up in the end. So if you need something you can be pretty sure it's at the bottom and it's a mess getting it out. The pacsafe tail bag has a big top cover that is easy to open and get access to whatever you need.

I also looked at this . It opens at the top instead of the end. There are cheaper alternatives as well (Ortlieb is high qulity stuff but expensive).

But the pacsafe has semi stiff sides so I went for the pac safe. As a bonus, it is slash proof (steel web) and has a cable locking it to the bike and the same time locking the cover. Mostly I don't use the lock, but nice to have if you park it in a city to walk around (it's a couple of minutes work so not 100% user friendly).

Only downside is the straps included with the pacsafe tail bag. Well, to be fair, the problem is the SD. There are no good points to fix the rear straps so the bag slide into your bum when you brake. I solved it by adding a few straps (see pic) but I will look into something better and easier this winter.

I use a Kriega R20 rucksack and a US20 tail pack and i find you can carry enough gear to keep yourself looking clean and presentable

I think the 5 litre Kriega bag is small enough to fit in between the tank cap and the handle bar. So no obstruction
