Lap Timer on UK Track Days

Hiya guys, I'm thinking of asking Santa or one of these:



It's a GPS based lap timer.

Before I do though, does anyone have any experience of using any sort of timing technilogy on a UK track day? As far as I'm aware noe of them allow timing laps. How serious are they about that? Would they let me on track with one of these visibly installed?

Would hate to get one and then not be able to use it....

Any info gratefully received!

In a previous thread there was some software for mobile phones mentioned.

It could cost you your phone, but maybe the best 'stealth installation'.

Better than bringing the 'wifey' for a track day....or....

Think I have it sussed, one of these:



Discrete enough to look like a watch on the handlebars, clever enough to time my laps by reference to a gps point which I can set anywhere on the track that I want.

Saves speed and a gps routemap as well as lap times. Fingers crossed it works as well as the fella at aim tec promises!
