Late to the party...

Okay, I've had my 2008 SD for over a year and a half and I really must apologize for not being more active in the forum. I've put 5,000+ miles on it, but have never really done too much as far as "performance" mod's. The little things I've done are the niggling bits of detail that usually bug the sh*t out of me like...

Lithium Battery (Ballistic 12 cell - AWESOME!)
Hyper-Pro Steering damper (yes, I had to machine all my own bits. But, it was well worth it)
Taller windscreen (KTM issue)
Sprockets & X-Ring Gold Chain upgrade (Regina, SuperSprox)
Flat Handlebar (RSI aluminium)
CRG Levers (Duh!)
SAS Block-offs (Moto Hooligan)
Mini mirrors (custom fabbed)
Fabricated a low-mount single exhaust (my favorite mod thus far )
Renthal grips, barend plugs, axle sliders, spools, moving the pegs up & back, leather seat cover, ditched the pillion pegs (plus some bodywork along with it), fork bleeders, yada, yada, yada...

But, I had also bought a PCV and Autotune over a year ago and never got around to installing it because I was honestly so pleased with how well the bike worked that didn't want to mess with it. Now, I'm getting the bug to do some sort of an intake (air filter box) and I thought it might be time to apply my purchase... (grin!) I put it on today, and it's a seriously worthwhile mod! Throttle smoother, bike pulls stronger, idle is perfect, (no fuel mileage info as yet, because not enough miles to report accurate info).

So, the first thing I do after that is order myself a pair of RC8 trumpets, a bit of aluminium sheet stock and go about researching filter elements to fab up my own air-box

I would like to see your Superduke in all its sexiness! You wouldn't want to show your Superduke would you?

Hi Mate, I'm interested in hearing more about the exhaust mod you've done. Lots of questions....

From where on the exhaust system did you break off to exit low? How noisy is it with just one silencer - have you had it measured? Have you had it dyno'd with your modded exhaust? If so what were the figures and torque like? Do you have ground clearance issues?

Be great to see detailed pictures. Is this the picture on your avatar?

Wow! I really love the look, approach to these bikes. A cross between naked, Streetfighter and cafe racer. Not retro but super contemporary.

This is something I have been toying with for a long time. For me the starting point is the tank and seat unit. I'm thinking about trying to fit an RC8 tank and losing the fairing spoilers, changing over the headlight unit to a number board and small spotlight, switching the straight bars for clip-ons and finding a small single seat so it's proportionally small.

But I really need to lose the twin under-seat exhaust. I have a full titanium Akra system but want a smaller, side exiting silencer - Moto=gp sytle. Like yours. Just want to know how much of the standard exhaust you used and what needs to be fabricated from scratch.

Had the bike stripped down this weekend and you can see the proportions that could be possible. Very like your French race bikes.

Since I am the one that started this topic... and since there's a few questions about the exhaust I made... I thougth a new thread for just the exhaust should happen. So, it's here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22111
