Longer Swing Arm?

Anyone know if the SDR or any other KTM LC8 swing arm is actually longer and a straight swap into the SD frame

20-30mm longer would be enough

I might have asked this before, I searched but cant find anything

SDR is the same as the SD so no solution there. Get someone to machine a couple of extented axle adjuster slots in aluminium as they do in the states for the hillclimb or dragsters.
Find an SD swing arm and get them welded in.

Can't for the heck figure out why you want to do that to the SD however... The SD stands basically for great handling and fast turn in etc... this will ruin it.

I believe that if you are looking for added stability you would be better served by changing the front end of the bike. Extending the swing will add some wheelbase. It will also put the bike even more on it's nose and give even more aggressive steering caused by the increasd ride height in the back.

If you really want a longer swing arm, do it the old fashioned way. Get another identical swing arm, cut them where needed/wanted and get them welded together properly. I don't think your going to have much luck finding an off the shelf solution. Good luck.

I would think that all the LC8 swing-arms from bikes originally fitted with an 18 would be a little longer considering that a 150/70 18" takes some room. Can't say for sure though.

I did a quick measure and came up with about 60cm center swing-arm pivot to center of axle cut-out, so considering Powercells 72cm, that would be a substantial difference...

I just went measure for you. It 's actually less than 60 more like 59.5cm

sorry about the long wait but i went out and measured the swingarms just then. all measurements are from the centre of the axle to the pivot point on the left side of the frame.

950SM - 595mm
990SD - 605mm
950SE - 620mm

i reckon the variance between the three is just chain adjuster position in the swingarm.
