Well guys,
I've been in the process of bleeding my clutch, adjusting the valves, removing and flushing the radiator, removing the oil tank (just cause I had to), and removing the SAS system. I've been done for almost a week now except for my SAS block off plates. I ordered them from Petrie Motorsports in Michigan three weeks ago but they never showed up. When the project started nearing completion I called. I paid them $9.00 for UPS shipping and they, instead, placed them in a plain envelope and shipped them with a single stamp. They got lost in the mail.
Now... to their credit they were great about shipping another set out and they overnighted it this time. They were very nice. The part is supposed to be in before noon today. Sooooooooooo.... with any luck my duke will be back on the road with
- fresh clutch fluid
- adjusted valves
- new plugs
- new air filter
- balanced throttle bodies
- lengthened gas tank mounts (so it fits this time)
- fresh oil change (trying out the Mobile 1 15w50 V-Twin Synthetic... see how well it does)
- new clutch oil jet (cause I ruined the other one trying to get it out)
- cleaned and adjusted chain
When I find a dealer that can remap the bike I'm going to put my gutted exhaust on (I have 2 stock exhausts - 1 gutted and 1 normal). I ran it for a while without the remap and it seemed a little lean.
I also had a buddy sell both of his bikes during the project and he gave me a front a rear stand - PIT BULL BRAND. They are flippen sweet. I can't believe I haven't purchased one already.
I took a bunch of pictures (less than I planned to though) and will piece together what "How-To's" I can from the pics I took. The project was bigger than I thought so I took less notes and pics than i probably should have but we'll get something together.
If the plates come in I should be riding... Maybe today?
