well i've only had the duke 4 days and the modding has started, i finished early from work today so got on with some mods,i took the ugly wing mirros off and fitted new clamps so there's no place to screw mirrors on now and removed the rear passenger foot pegs, the tail tidy arrived today with no instructions...lol but i'll try and work it out when i get a day off friday, the carbon fibre engine case covers arrived today aswell and the billett bobbins also arrived so i can now lift the rear up with my paddock stand,im waiting now for the carbon fibre rear hugger and chain gaurd and the new carbon fibre front mud gaurd to arrive and hopefully by next week i'll strip the swingarm off and the rearsets and handle bar risers and bar clamps and some other bits and peices powder coated black and also get the wheels powder coated either orange or black but cant make my mind up then i'll be on the look out for a carbon fibre akrapovic slip on's either super duke ones or zx10r ones as im pretty sure i can get them too fit with a custom made Y peice made in stainless steel by a exhaust builder down the road, then a pc3 and custom map, filter wise i think i'll fit a bmc race filter so if anyone is selling one or knows for them at cheap prices let me know, im also going to bin the chrome heat shields off the rear aswell when i track down a slip for it or i'll cut open the stock cans and remove the baffles and open them up a bit for a more free flowing system as my mate can reweld them back up easily......

back on topic.........lol

fitted the ktm carbon fibre seat cover and the carbon fibre hugger also fitted the r+g tail tidy, going to trim the hugger a bit as i dont like the shape of it over the tyre i'll get my mate at the body shop to cut it a bit more angular to mimick the rear a bit.also got rid of the hand gaurds and fitted some ktm bar ends, going to get a 6x5 number plate tomorrow....

Image

Image

not impressed with the finish on the genuine ktm seat cover, finish on the clear coat is poor,i wish tyga performance made stuff for the duke as it would be as good or better and half the price atleast......

any one trimmed one of these so this fit flush to the exhaust gaurds..????

thinking about getting a graphics kit done to my bike i really like the 2010 monster energy ones and one else seen one's which are nicer and would suit the duke..???? im thinking about getting my mate to paint the tank and head light surround black aswell unless you seen other graphics that use orange on them like the jagermeister graphics aswell..?????

I was thinking about the moster graphics when I did mine but needs more than just a claw going down your side panels, plus Monster is synonomous with Kawasaki so I just opted for KTM redbull.

There was another style I was gonna go for but a fellow member is going for that so keeping shtum
i really like the jagermister ones but i might change jagermeister to strongbow instead....lol

just fittedcarbon fibre casing savers and the dark smoked headlight cover and the new hp exhaust.I took the baffles out and it's loud as fook and dont sound like a cub 90 honda any more....lol the exhaust fitted straight on no probs at all, it even has the hooks built in to the clamp's so no faffing about buying the akra fitting kit and the quality is awsome

I also managed to get to the back specialist bloke today who crunched and twisted me back in to shape so far so good just need to rest it now....lol

i'll take better pics of it tomorrow

they are awsome sounding they pop and bang and spit flames just like a v twin should....lol took it to my local ktm dealer to have the open akrapovic map done to it but it was already on the ecu so the previous owner must of been running cans on it before i got it so saved me £20 having the ecu flashed, also got the tyres inflated with nitrogen at local kwikfit and got a small number plate and micro indicators on it and the dark smoke headlight cover, waiti ng for the rearsets to turn up and the carbon fibre front mudgaurd and the motobox and pc3 then off to powder coat and recover the seat in gripper seat material and should get the mojo belly pan in a while....done !!!

Jus a quik qestion but why botha with nitrogen in road corsaz???
Aint air 80% nitrogen anyway?
Yes.

I've had 100% nitrogen put in several times by my dealer - Total charge to do this and fit 2 new tyres to loose wheels was a fiver!

I can honestly say I've noticed zero difference. Pressures still alter by the same factor cold to hot.
Buzz i really do like the HP cans, especially the beans!!!!
If anyone wants to swap round Akras off mine for the HP's i'm up fro a deal
Must admit though, maybe you can enlighten me cus i think those carbon seat cowels look so tacky and shite why do people put them on? Is it meant to make it like it's a single seat If thats the case why not just buy the "R"

Got no photos of my own yet but here's a pic of them on Resmas's bike

They're cheap ones from hong kong off ebay and the finish isn't perfect but it's not as if the std ones are anything to write home about either.

I'm getting round the finish though by rubbing down the little bit of moulding excess and having them sprayed with my tank and R tail unit.

Buzz, orange tank does'nt suit your orange tank shrouds, get the tank sprayed black, the nose will look fine with the orange.

well fitted the new rearsets today and they are decent enough as i got them at a great discount, they look good and feel nice and solid only downside is the bolts they are supplied with are soft as cheese and the gear rod needs a few mil cut off it to get the gear stick where i want it,i should of waited for some gilles vcr's to turn up but they'll do the job and look nice on the bike, will pay a visit to my mates engineering shop to pick up some black high tensile bolts off him as the ones supplied will round off in no time after tweeking them a few times...

Yeah, I'm not a fan, my SD had the SAS already removed when I got it so I don't know how the SD does it exactly but my RC8 with Akra was just too much and I assume they're very much the same.

finished fitting the pc3 and the 02 eliminators and unplugged the sas complety off the bike,im not getting a FI warning ..??? and i have'nt fitted the resistor yet either, any ideas why im not getting the fi warning when the bike is running..???

dont understand what you are saying..??? i've disconnected the sas and unplugged it and had the bike running and no fi light ..??? i've read on here that unplugging the sas will cause the fi light to stay on,well on my bike the only time it comes on is when i turn the ignition on then it goes out after couple of seconds, when the bike is idling or being revved the fi does not come on but its supposed to until i fit the resistor to fool the ecu in to thinking the sas is still connected correct...??

belly pan arrived today and after fitting it im sending it back, hoping it was just the one i had but the buid quality of it was poor, the graphics were good but the finish on the fibreglass had sharp raised lumps underneth graphics and the holes to mount it were too small and no fibre glass on the mounting holes so after mounting they would end up ripping through with the vibrations of the engine, absolutley gutted as it looked awsome, just hope they can have a word with who ever moulds them for them and sort the quality out..??? also no mount holes for it under the battery box either..??? just on the side upper and at the rear..????

so with the refund i will be getting back i've ordered some silver asv shorty levers.....

You have definitely transformed that bike. I really like the mods you have put on. I've only had my bike for 3 days and I can already feel my wallet starting to get light. Question on the HP exhaust. How much and where did you get it? I have my options narrowed to the Graves, HP, or the leos. Does anyone have any experience with the Graves? I think the first mod I need to do is put a steering damper on because this bitch is hittin the track on the 19th. But anywho...I love your bike. It's obvious that alot of time, dedication and money went into you customizing it.

Cheers

Brian
i got the hp's off ebay for a decent price...thanks for the kind comments....

sorted the resistor now and new tyres fitted, its going on the rolling road tomorrow for a custom map,

whats the fueling like on other dukes below 3000 rpm as mine is still rough using the dyno map i installed which is the closest one i could find..???? above 3000 rpm its lovely..???
