#2Grendel thinks it is a great idea. He has been picking up spare parts when the price is right. He has a spare tank, side panels, rear panels, and foot rest controls.
However given the price of them now, getting a whole bike is not as unreasonable as it would seem at first blush.

I have currently a 05 SD for track only and a 08 SDR for the road. I have just ordered a brand new 2011 SDR that I will use as my new track weapon.The 05 SD will be my spare bike.
I.e. soon I have 3 superdukes
I have the last 2 years also had a RC8 and a BWM S1000R. Now sold. I prefer my Superduke's

#9When the new SD1190 comes out I hope to have two, my 05 for track and the new one for shredding the roads, although my RC8 might have to go although I'd love to keep em all, unless I like it too much at Cadwell and then it might end up with fibreglass fairings and the 05 will go

#10I am aiming for a 250sx and 525SM/EXC next to my SDR.
I have to drive like atleast 1.5hours for 1 track and 2hours+ for another, if the tracks where closer i would consider buying a trackday SD. But since i got 2 mx tracks closeby and another 2 in a 1hour drive radious im picking motocross over trackdays. (Dirt is way more fun anyway )

#15I have 2 08's, an orange and a black. At the prices dealers were selling them for I could not resist a spare last year. Before buying the spare I was SD-less for one month when the tank had a problem and the tank bounced from the dealer, to KTM, back to me.......our summers are not that long, so I vowed never to be out of an SD again, even though I have other bikes to ride.

#16Owning 2 would at least ensure you had a correctly running bike to use.
