Please can anyone in the UK who has recently bought a MH airbox tell me how much it cost in total (plus breakdown of unit cost, shipping, tax etc).
I'm just trying to work out if I can afford to buy one. I'm hoping I can't afford not to!
i'm not from the UK, but still live in Europe. With all the costs it was around 495 dollar, 312 pound
that's for Motobox Kit (-K&N, SAS, resister & Butterflies)
It all depends on current exchange rates.

Best thing you can do is add up the total cost of the items you want from MotoHooligan and the delivery charge and then go on to www.xe.com and use their currency converter to see the cost in pounds and then add 20% to cover customs charges and royal mail handling fee and that should be in the right ballpark, paypal's exchange rates aren't quite as good as the official exchange rates but it will give you an idea.
I have just this second paid for the customs charge on my Motobox and SAS Kit, the charges in total came to £83.01. I paid £261.13 on the 5th Jan to MotoHooligan for the airbox and SAS kit. So £344.14 in total.

Blimey £83 on £261, seems high, 20% has always been a good indicator for me in the past but that's more than 30% of the value, how much did those robbing gits the royal mail steal off you for their "handling charge"
Heres a breakdown of custom charges £12.74 Import duty
£56.77 VAT
£13.50 Clearence fee
Of course, I forgot, we're 20% vat now, it was 15% the last few things I ordered plus it looks like the exchange rate must have gone down before it got to customs so by the time you add import duty and handling fee it soon adds up.
What a rip-off.
And that's why I no longer buy expensive items out of the EU.
(ASV levers and motobox are on my wish list...)
picked mine up from the local post office just before xmas, as it was left there by courier...
charges applicable or summat written on it, asked man in post office... who said they ( the courier) wouldn't release it for delivery if charges were not paid.

so he got me signature and let me take it, oh how i giggled!
few days later i get letter stating i needed to pay charges, to get my parcel delivered!

hmm thinks me, i won't pay, let em send it back, it wasn't my signature that signed for it... ahem

not heard owt else...........they wanted £46.01 for vat ( 17.5%)
and £13.50 handling fee making £59.51 in total.......

not heard owt since......... fingers crossed!

In Australia we can bring stuff in up to $1000.00 and not pay any tax or import charges.
But now we have 2 big retail store owner's trying to talk the Government into changing the rules.
This sucks and I have stopped buying products from these 2 Dudes.
They are Dick Smith and Jerry Harvy for those who dont know.
Yes, correct!
I was tempted to buy a TV at stinking harvey's but I whent somewhere else and told them why I came to them. They offered me the same price anyway.

I hope nobody buys anything at tricky dicky and rotten harvey anymore. What a bunch of pricks they are loaded and probably use expensive bookies and lawyers to exploid every loophole under the sun but want normal joe to pay for every last bit of tax for their own benefit. I have no sympathy for them, they can rot in hell!

How much have they donated to the poor people in Qld, nowt I guess....
if they wanted to be competitive on price, maybe they should rip off the general public so much.

things over here arent just 10% more cos of tax... they are usually 100 to 200% more expensive

Australia is so overly taxed its a frigin joke!
I was talking to a fella at work he's from Canada and he said that before he came here he had high expectations for Australia but he is going back to Canada in April as he cant believe how much we get ripped off on its seem everything and we Australians just keep taking it. He also said that he just cant afford to live here.
He was saying one of the best way's off checking in a country if they are ripping you off is going to McDonalds LOL! and he could'nt belive how expensive it was compaired to other countries he has been to.
Get this and I dont know how true it is but my son came home from work last night and he works for one of the big grocery stores and heard that because of the floods that Tax is going up.
I dont know how true this is but it always seems to me that our Government are dreaming up Idea's on how to rip us off even more every year and when the floods hit I thought here we go again I just wonder how and when these scum bags will hit us up for more money. If they can afford to give Indonesia $500mil every year for there schools why cant they afford to fix things here and remember its our money they are using.
I was born in 1956 and in my short years I have seen heaps of BS going on in this county and it makes me so angry. I feel so sorry for the youth of Australia.
I also should mention just to get you more upset LOL is that the Government love it when things we buy are so expensive as they get more Tax.
Thats why fuel is always going up the higher the cost the more Tax they get this is why they do nothing to bring the prices down.
This creates a flow on effect on all products we purchase.
They are the modern day Ned Kelly's.
there is two words that will fix the future... guy fauks
I have one word AGRO
