just received the motobox, flies, sas plates yesterday iv installed the lot and im not all that impressed i mean yes the ease of survising is defo MUCH better but is it worth nearly 400 nicker????? iv had my pc111 set up for an open breathing airbox and cans etc so i cant see that its a million miles off with the new setup (i maybe wrong) but i cant notice that its any quicker or smoother all it is is fookin louder gives me headach even with earplugs and i thought the sas block offs were gonna stop the poping and banging on overrun (not that i mind i quite like it) but £400 for easy maintinance i mean how many times do you have to take the airbox out anyway???? but i got it and fitted it now so ill have to get over it just thought id have a rant..........WWWWHHHHHOOOOOSSSSSAAAAAA........WWWWWWWHHHHHOOOOSSSSAAAA
motobox not fussed

#2hey fella
i had an "open airbox" map for mine when i fitted my motobox but it didnt come alive till i had a proper custom map done at dynjet HQ . had the map fitted to make it safe to get where i was going .
after it was mapped i gained 13 HP at peak and 9 HP throughout the rev range . more important than the figures tho is the way the bike now runs and delivers its power . i was lucky enough to get one of the very first batch of motoboxes before they were proven , probs the best individual bit of kit i ever fitted to the old girl .
bloody true about the noise tho its fuggin loud , straight through graves cans dont help either . i hope you can get it sorted to your satisfaction .
take it easy

#3thanks rich I should have mentioned that I had the open box mod and pipes and had a costom map tuned by my dynojet tuner so I can't see the map being that much off what it needs to be

#4........I had a free map....then had it mapped ...gained 7- 8 bhp from 5000 to 95000

#5Yes mate. Go for a custom map at a good dynojet place. You will see the difference on the map. But if you have incrementally made mods to your bike then it won't feel as much as a leap as if you were to fit the Motobox from a standard set up. The noise is just something you just get used to. I only started using earplugs after the motobox, first time in my 30 year career. It was a bit of a necessity!

#7Most people are going from standard to Motobox, so like Bic says we saw a big leap with a custom map. I'd still be tempted to get my map tweaked if I was you. I'd also whip out the 2nd flies and shafts before that and turn them off with TuneECU. Will be a bit boggy around 3.5-5k until you get map tweaked. Then it will just go insane With Motobox, 2nd flies still in and standard round Akras mine made 123 on dyno. Whipped out 2nd flies, fitted full titanium system and she made 129.43 with new map Ok the full system gave me a lot of that extra grunt but losing the 2nd flies def helped!
Did you mean the bike is still popping after fitting SAS plates? If so you have a blown graphite gasket in the rear header down pipe joint.

#8Must say I found the results to be similar, lots of noise and not much gain. I was running the standard map (after being assured by the dealer that it was the Akro map) and fitted the MH airbox, secondaries and SAS plates then uploaded Klinks map. The airbox with the addition of the new map I was expecting a quite substantial leap but must say that it is hardly noticeable and not worth the outlay at this stage.

#9Scam... What year is your bike? And what map are you running. Is it a time ecu map or pc3. My guess is you are running too lean from what you are saying

#13if it only gained 7-8bhp after raising limit to 95000rpm then I would be disappointed, really disappointed.

#14....er do you think my rev counter is reading a bit high

#15I went from stock with akra maps and pipes to motobox and definetly noticed the difference. According to my mate the front wheel lifted easier! I had him do the seat of the pants test ie never ridden it before , rode it as stock then we fitted the motobox etc and
I then went and got a custom map and didnt notice any substantial difference but it was alot smoother and there were no discernible flat spots at all.

#16The bike can't burn more fuel then injected so when the injection is set up perfectly and you fit a MH airbox the amount of fuel injected will be the same and the bike will be slightly leaner. From this point, adding a little extra fuel will make a big difference

#17Last night my mate fitted the MH box, SAS block off plated, PC and eliminators for me. I reckon it's much nicer now but because it's smoother with a little bit more mid range power it perhaps doesn't quite feel as fast as it was even though it's actually faster. I spun up the rear tyre as I was exiting a corner and the one though that wasn't going through my head was I need more power! I've only done 20 miles with the new equipment but feels great to me. Hopefully I'll get a custom map in the next couple of weeks and then I'll really have it sorted

#18I went from stock standard to full system and m/box SAS s/flies and stepper removed and like Scamb66 Klincks map... I obviously felt a massive difference, but tomorrow I get to go and get a custom map done and I'm looking forward to seeing the diffence especially as I'll have a bike that is almost the same as mine with me to compare. Overall I am happy but wouldn't guess at figures as humans are extremely fallible.

#19Just got my TuneECU cable and headed to Scamb's place to download Klinck's 129Hp Map... HOLY CRAPBALLS! I already was running Klinck's on my PCIII but I zeroed that and installed his latest map and my bike is running the best it has since I got it. No snatchiness or "fluffing" down low and a nice linear power delivery all the way to 7500-8000rpm. I can't wait for the Dyno tommorrow to see what it has now and if he can make it better. Although I did a few mods at once, I wouldn't be able to get the engine to breathe with out a bigger box. The fuel in the UK must be pretty close to ours in the west.

#22Well the day of judgement... 131.6hp. Pretty damn happy with that.
Klink's map was almost perfect for my bike mid range but down low was up to 20% too rich (different country, fuel, temperature...) and only a little lean up top, stuff all really. The bike charges from right down low now and is still pulling at the limiter. Tod at Bunbury sure knows his stuff. IMO it would be impossible to get these figure without the motobox. I know a guy is getting he same figures with a DNA filter and sides removed but I'm glad my cash went to Aaron as it is a fair price for a mod that let's your bike breathe enough to grunt!
