Motorcycles to use London bus lanes

Good news for londoners:


but read this:
In a letter to the mayor, LCC's chief executive Koy Thomson said: "While we would support measures to make motorcycling safer, such as a 20mph speed limit, there is no clear environmental, safety or congestion reason for allowing motorcycles into bus lanes."

20mph! wtf, complete madness!

We've been able to use bus lanes here in Bristol for around the last ten years. It was the first city to allow it. I can't believe it's not national policy.

Could be worse, you could be in the USA where filtering (lane splitting) is illegal except in a few states (?). Maybe our American cousins can confirm this is the case.

hey guys, California is the only state I know that allows lane splitting. Only between the two far left lanes and approximately 10 mph over the prevailing traffic speed.

I came to the States from England....and I tell thee, no lane splitting over here is horrible...... Part of the reason for two wheels is to go the head of the line a traffic lights and simply zip away when it turns green........ Doesn't bother anyone, but will they allow it ? Oh nooooooo.....
