Mounting tyres yourself

#2I bought myself all the tyre changing gear a little while ago, it'll take about 20 tyre changes to recoup my costs...I've done 8 so far!
I do recommend it though, it's very rewarding being able to do it yourself and you can buy scrubbed tyres without worrying about finding a place to fit them.
I bought this Sealey tyre changer...

I already had a compressor , so all that was needed then was some tyre levers, rim protectors and wheel weights.

#430 a tyre is cheap compared to what they charge around here. I mounted my last set myself with just spoons and rim protectors. I would like to buy a changer but just haven't gotten there yet.

#8I bought the Harbor Freight changer and a static balancer. They work great and have saved me a lot of money.

#13Bought this for bead breaking but to be honest i use it more for changing off road tyre's
i've found this simple bead breaker far better and quicker
A usfull tip if your gonna have a go is leave your new tyre's in the sun to warm up or next to a radiator for 10 mins they slip on far easier when warm.
Balancing is also very easy, the back wheel never seems far out so normally i dont bother adding any weights,the front i will split the weight evenly between both side's of the rim.
IMO it's worth getting your own gear as you save time and cash, you'll also need a compressor though to pump em up!
