My first experience with TuneECU

I'll start by saying this is NOT baggin the software, just sharing to make myself feel better [beers aren't working] AND for a laugh.

I got my ECU cable from powercell, so i wanted to have a play and at a minimum get it connecting and save my stock map to my PC.

I don't have a laptop, so i informed the missus her laptop was needed in the shed for the night. I went through all the same BS other ppl have in getting it to connect. It would, then it wouldn't, then tilt your head to the left and it would connect etc:
Anyway, got a connection eventually, and long enough to read/save my stock map to the PC. I then disabled the O2 sensors and downloaded it to the ECU, all worked o.k, got the confirmation.

Time for a TPS re-set.
Started the bike, let it idle, 1 minute in, i notice my fuel light come on, 6minutes in the rev's start dropping and then dies. WTF
I knew the fuel was a bit low, but RUN OUT???

I started to think i could have damaged the ECU. So i give the missus her laptop back, and i drag my desktop rig into shed. Use the same drivers and all, same OS on the PC. It connects beautifully, and stays connected.

I bolt to the servo, get 10L Premium put it in the tank, crank for 15seconds, FLAT battery. WTF, it was connected to the battery tender the whole time. Oh well, charge the battery some more, cranking, cranking, nothing. I notice something missing, [the fuel pump whirr] just after turning on ignition. I test and relay is working, power to the pump and all, damn thing is dead.
I pulled it out and bench tested it NOTHING. How could it do this to me, dead i presume from overheating from running out of fuel while idling in my shed. It's only got 3500km's on the clock.

oh well..........

-try re loading the original map back onto your bike
-also disconnect the light fuse (15amp second from the left in your rubber surrounded fuse box under the seat), this will stop your battery from going flat
-once the map is loaded on, turn off your bike then disconnect diagnotics plug.

If this does not work, post up again.

I am thinking that there may have been some sort of connection or disconnection error at some point.

I had the 15amp light fuse removed the whole time.
thinking my battery might be S**T

I'm busy chasing around to get best price on a fuel pump atm.
It's in my hands on the bench, and it's dead as a dodo, from running out of fuel once. crazy huh. Had no syptoms before running out of fuel.

I'll get back to the map stuff once my bike actually starts.

Sad to hear, mine worked a charm once i went back to my XP with .net 3.5, i couldnt get my windows 7 to load anything but 4.0.

Of course once i 'unzipped' the ftdi drivers it was a snap. (duh)

read my current map, cleared codes, threw Guys map in and did 15 min reset, all is well, snow on the roads so no test ride yet...

I have not tried it running yet...

Well, kind of.
My bike was a [not what u know, but who you know] kind of deal.
My '08 has never been on a dealer floor, I purchased direct from KTM Australia. It was their demo/workshop/testing/come & try day kind of bike. Had 1880km on it when i bought it couple months ago.

I'm waiting for a call back, but they may replace it under warranty, if not, for a good price. There's some checklist i have to fill out first.

i'll post here when i know more.

Just got back from Perth with my new fuel pump.
KTM Australia replaced it under warranty for me.
I fitted it within an hour of driving back from Perth, [bike starts easier when the fuel pump actually runs ]
and took the bike for a 45 minute long spanking.
[4 weeks with no bike, it felt like 12 ] aaaarhhh blisss!!!!

Anyhoo, definitely smoother with the O2 sensors disabled.
My SAS plates and my carbon Yoshi's should all arrive next week, so there will be some more mapping changes to be done.

Tune ECU, is this the new miracle tuning aid i've heard of, the one everyone is supposed to be ditching their Power commanders for?
