Out for a ride today, sunny 32C, been sick in bed for 3 days, so needed some thrills.
Saw a bike ride the opposite direction, so i spun around and followed him.
It was all calm and casual, i didn't roar up behind him or anything, just pulled up slowly behind him at the round-about waiting for traffic.

He's riding a Honda CBR 1000RR
I had a chuckle to myself that he had shorts and t-shirt on, and i could see tape/dressing on his left elbow. [i was kitted out in my new Joe Rocket Speedmaster 5.0]

So, he goes right, i turn right. He slips around the car in front of us and opens the bitch up.
Hmmmmf.. guess i better see where he's off to in a hurry.
This guy had something to prove eh, 150+ in a 60 zone. [i had to see where he was off to, so i kept up. ]

Through another round-about into a 6Km long stretch of open road. And this guy kicks it up another notch.
I'm thinkin, "this guy is mad as a cut snake!!!!"
I get to 235km/hr in a 90 zone and can't catch this guy for the life of me.

I let him have it, and backoff. Besides, my thighs were hurting from gripping my SD so tight.
[i keep thinking "if only my Yoshimura system had arrived this week"]
But, further up the road i see him turn off to the right. Soo...I thought I'd check out where he's going.

A short stint up there and he takes another right onto a main highway with 110Km/hr zone. I follow with anticipation.
I stopped to check traffic and pull out, already hear him roaring up the road. I have to wait for a motorcycle and car to pass b4 pulling out.
Then i opened up the SD again, passing the car and the motorcycle [who glanced sideways as if to say "WTF?"] as I went past him at 195.
I still couldn't catch the HONDA and the SD was maxed out at 205 punching into wind that was gusting to 57km/hr

Then he backed off, so i caught up and blew past him for the next couple of km's till we had to slow down for another round-about.
As we slowed down, he pulled up alongside and had a good ol stare at the orange beast, and we went our seperate ways at the round-about.

So, there ya go. I had to go home and put some more Rectinol on my Hemorrhoid!!!! coz it was angry.
I also realised i'm much more comfortable jumping 90' table tops on a motocross track than i am doing high speed on the road.
On a curvy road, you'll take him.

On a straight one, you won't stand a chance.

Everyone and anyone can go fast in a straight line.
haha, yeah motocross is like that too.
Everyone's a legend down the start straight, then u gotta turn.

Actually brings me to a nagging question [since i'm new to road bikes]
Braking heavily and changin down gears for a corner or roundabout, i occassionally get the rear end want to step out a bit.
It's a bit disconcerting.
How do most ppl overcome this, other than buying a slipper clutch?
also....
is the SD actually any better with corners than a Jap bike?

I found my SD quite a bit better in the corners than a jap bike. i leave my buddies who do lots of track days in the dust and will stalk other sport bikers who we let start up the mountain ahead of us. i can carry a lot more corner speed and if they would just let me go by they would never see me again. unfortunately they dont like seeing a dirt bike on steroids right behind them. they do blast away on the straights only to have me catch back up when the road gets twisty again.
just a guess...but does having more engine braking w/ a twin allow you to go slightly lighter on the brakes or later in application before turn-in than a jap multi?
I Jap litre bike will do 160kph in first gear! From memory I think my 06 Gixxer would do 210kph in second so what chance have you got on a SD.
The trick is not to race one of these bikes on strait roads its on the bends that you will have these dudes thnking what the hell is going on.
On a sports bike Its feels easier to go around corners by getting off the seat like your on a race bike but on the SD I just stear the bike with my butt LOL!!
The SD just seems to go around corners easier than a sports bike. In the high performance bikes I have owned 05 R1, 06Gixxer, 07 Busa with mods and to me the SD is the best fun bike I have owned. I even owned a 08 Speed Triple and the SD is a better bike easy.
I used to think that sports bikes were great but where can you use the speed and H Power of these things. I had my Busa up to a indicated 297kph one time and you just cant stop thinking of things that might go wrong at those speeds.
Im running Yoshi's and they sound fantastic but make sure you do get the MotoBox and Mrz32 map as it makes a hole lot of difference to the SD.
Make yourself a cable for the Tuneecu and put MrZ32 map in your bike and you will be surprised at the difference for sure.
Lucky you did not get busted by the cops like a mate of mine did. They all but dragged him off the bike and drove him straight to the station and charged him, instant loss of licence. The other rider did not stop but they had a copper waiting outside his house before he could make it home, the other rider and my mate got to meet face to face at the station.

My mate complained about leaving his bike on the side of the road but the coppers could not give a shit, lucky for him it was still there several hours later when he had his wife drive him with a trailer to pick it up.
to Agro and LC4
I know what ya mean, where can you use all the h.p without losing your license. Dodge a bullet a few times but eventually will see blue lights.
Besides, it isn't a comfortable ride at high speed. Just enjoy going 0 - 150kph quickly and crankin it over round corners.

I guess i should think more before letting my hair down as I need my license for my job.
I've already had one b'day a coupla years back where my friends were all at my house for my party, drinking my beer and cooking
on my new BBQ, while i was arrested and locked up for failing to stop and failing to display a number plate a 1/2 hour before the party.
