My luggage solution

Getting ready to leave in a few weeks for a 2500ish mile ride. Here is my solution to the luggage issue. I haven't had a chance to grind the welds down and paint it yet, but I think it'll work.
This was my first attempt at some panniers, I may tweak them a bit after the ride to get them to look a little better.
What do you think?

Is that bar or tube mate? Tube stronger. 12mm OD min but depends on how much stuff you plan to load. Looks good.
This does NOT carry the load. The bags I am using drape across the seat. This only keeps the bags off of the exhaust. I left just over an inch between the pipe and where the bags rest for airflow.
I tried them out yesterday on a ride to make sure the bags do not get to hot. I think they will do just fine for what I'm using them for.
Great stuff.
I made my rack like this.... so i can carry both saddlebags , tent and in worst case....a pillion !... Fully loaded , a 4th gear wheelie is a piece of cake !...
