My new baby Ready to Race... nearly

Well here she is. Schnauzer's SDR that I picked up on Monday. So far I've put my full system, motobox, revalved forks and LSL flat bars on. Still need to put on slipper clutch, rear sets and black master cylinders for clutch and brake. Also belly pan. Very happy so far and about to ride her for the very first time. My arse is a little concerned being used to comfy 06 seat.

Looking good! Great recovery.
I think you'll find the SDR seat better for track use - Fuel's sdr seat felt loads better than the 'standard' bike for track use.

Stops the fuel sloshing around, sometimes on the SD when you brake heavily with lowish fuel, the fuel surges forward and starves the pump.....and stalls.

No it does not degrade and mess up your filter, I believe you cut it up into smaller chunks and push it down, never fitted myself.

Think it was prevalent on the 05-06 tank.

Nice bike CK, swapsies at crashfest?

I put the solo seat on mine over the winter. I like it for the ease of moving around on the bike, side to side, plus front to back. I put a lot of weight on the pegs when the road gets " right ". Try it, you will like it. It's made for the track, not to carry around your GF.

Looking good already mate . You wont even notice the seat on track,it's only on long rideouts that sometimes the seat can get a tad uncomfy.

So, Craig mate, how long before you get Schnausers bike into that slightly worn in/ tatty state the old bike was in? Ha ha. This is weird for me- used to seeing this bike with an i phone fitted onto the handlebars and a slightly chilled out Shnauser and me chasing you and Shade down Essex mad roads. But now i have to swap that image for you sitting on this same bike with your headphones plugged in, in the zone, head banging to the music you play when you ride, thrashing the fook out of the poor fooker at every opportunity.

If this bike were a woman. Would she be getting a better time with this partner swap?

Looks great! I would definitely pull the flies, all dyno tests show it's better without them as far as I know on the SD, I know it's different on most other bikes and that's the reason most tuners want them left in.
SDR seat is a bit more narrow and higher as far as I know so the difference in feel sounds normal.
I bet you didn't suspect yourself owning a SDR just 2 weeks ago

Have fun with your new toy!

I've been away in Cuba, no tinternet - I'm just catching up!
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

Honestly I think this bike is jinxed! I'm off to sort out Schnauzer this evening my mum always told me "never trust a Gooner!" Seems the KTM alarm is now playing up. Millar and I were heading out to abuse some twisties. Bike went through clock diagnostics then dead, tank wasn't priming. We fooked about with alarm and it seems it may have got wet when I washed the bike yesterday after some shaking, swearing and threatening the bike lived again and we headed off. All good till about 30 miles away and it died, look down and clocks are going through cycles again. Pull over, whip off tail, push and squeeze the alarm. We hear some crackling in there, def doesn't sound good. After 5 mins she lives again. We make it another 10 miles and it does it again. This time when we get life again it behaves like battery is dead. Give up, call the AA and sit in pub waiting for the track to come. 2 hours later I'm home. About to take the alarm apart and put a tea bag full of rice in it to try and dry it out. Next thing on the list is to try and find a blanking plate for it. Can't have this happening at the track or worse in a race!

That sucks dude.
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

Well I just took out the 3 screws on the back and prised the back off. That's the non water tight water right seal fooked tied it up in a bag of rice to hope it sucks any water out. Tbh as much as an alarm is needed in London, I'm not in central london that much now. Getting a blanking plate is top of the list of requirements now.

Welcome to the world of SDR - just removed my alarm and may have a spare blanking plug- will check when I get back tonight.
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

Yeah it's been an eventful 13 days of ownership if you have a spare that would be amazing. I'll be on to KtM on Tuesday for one.

The number board has gone off to printers. Should have the vector file for it soon and I'll post it back. Thanks again m8.
Superdan

You got it up and running again quick, what did it need it the end? just bars and rearsets and a lever?
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

Bars, rearset (on order, replaced with OEM) crash bungs, lever, can needs repair (not done yet) brake lines, bar end, grips.

I'll see how it runs regards rear cylinder leak. Didn't show any today but I didn't really spank it. Def going with obver torque the head down before going through base gaskets again.

The Strunts are a band; a low key side project made up of members of the strokes and metal legends Harmonic discord.

There's a few live recordings knocking about and a really rare 8 track demo entitled " Badger fisting in D minor"

Stupid bike ruining our ride!

Pretty dangerous thing to happen really, the alarm able to totally kill the bike when on the move. Imagine if that had been speeding down a busy motorway.
Or in a race, it might even cause an unexpected high side, and then the rider would be blamed for no reason
