My R tried to kill me

Riding along at speed and into a 60mph bend and the back wheel let go violently, somehow I didn't fall off and came to a stop and there is coolant and steam pissing out everywhere. The back tyre is covered in coolant and feels like glass.

To say I'm unhappy at 2 weeks old and 720 miles is an understatement, taking to dealer on Monday and rejecting it.

I'm lucky to be here to tell the tale
When you say rejecting it you mean asking for a refund? Thats bad news! You must be pis*ed!

Guess I best be looking at that Tuono factory for 08 then
Now I've calmed and read up on rekecting a vehicle I realise I gotta let them fix it first. Also been scanning classifieds for what I would replace it with and there is nothing else I want !
I will buy a back-up bike of some sort tho !
Glad your ok mate, sounds like the final nail in the coffin to me! (for the bike, not you!!!)

Id be jumping down the fuggin dealers throat!!!

Its a real pisser that you enjoyed your 06 SD so much with no problems then you buy a brand new SDR and get plagued with them!
Apparently all the bikes in the superduke cup over here had their hose clips all replaced !!!!!!

So it is a known fault, dunno whether to be happy or fuming that they let us road riders take them out and run the risk of crashing !
So the hose slipped off or ruptured? Does it need to be safety wired?
Which hose-clip has sprung a leak? (I've noticed it's different at the front right to the regular SD).

Looks like you're not too happy with this bike! You've changed the seat to something more bearable, you've been having serious problems with the fuel injection at low revs, now this!!!

Are all the 08 SDRs lemons? (Begins to make me relieved I didn't get one, which I almost did).

Tried out the new 990SM today as an alternative, FUN!!!
(but the seat aint too comfortable on that either after about 50 miles).
Least you didn't bin it and you know how to fix it now, so fingers crossed you keep riding her
Sorry to hear about that. I'm loving my SD-R and I imagine I'll be loving it even more once I get around to doing the PCIII, O2 sensor delete, and some dyno time for a split map. I don't have issues with the throttle etc. but I have noticed that the Akra map has it running a little lean down low and way rich up top.

Get her fixed, get her dialed in, and I bet you'll never look back.

Mike, stick the power commander on her, get a split map made, you will be happy
Power commander on now, in headlamp! I don't think the vibrations under the seat will do it any good there,I will set the 0 and 100% throttle after Moto GP qualifying and away to go.

I phoned the dealer, there are NO recalls for hose clamps
Bike dropped off this morning, I explained the the dealer the problem and that all the race bikes have had the hose clips replaced by jubilee clips, he said he hadn't heard of that and I had been reading too many internet forums. Unluckily for him there was a race bike in his workshop and yup it had the hose clips replaced with jubilee clips LOL

They are gonna look at it and did offer me a demo bike for tomorrow so we'll see how it goes.

But it does look like the race bikes have different clips, as it is obviously a weak point I shall have all my hose clamps changed to stop it happening again.
