my rear tyres has de-laminated..????

this is on my ktm super duke ,its a pirelli diablo corsa and was on the bike when i bought it and only squared off a few mm more than sides,tyres were ok before i went out today for a few hours,when i parked up to have something to eat with my mate i noticed the tyre has gone like this but only around 14 inches has gone like it but not all the way around,rest of tyre is ok,,????? any idea what caused this..?????? faulty moulding..??? cold tearing..???

It happened because you ran out of tread It's time for a new tyre.

What pressures are you running (cold)?

I used to run Diablo Corsa's on my old SD when I first got it. The big twin will eat chunks out of a rear as it gets old but not all through the centre line like yours.

Too high rear pressure might do it? Unlike Jap manufacturers, KTM recommend 2.5 BAR or 34 psi in both front and rear.

Otherwise the only tyre I have seen like that had been used for burnouts.

Just one mad thought BUZZ......that rear hugger is very close to the tyre surface, there's no chance it has been vibrating and catching the tyre like with a resonant frequency or something, that might explain the uneven tyre wear - but it would surely show on the hugger as well. Can't see from the photos if this has been happening though.

Actually now that you mention it bic that hugger in the first photo while it appears a safe distance away does look a bit chewed and uneven. It could just be the angle of the photo though too, but good alternative idea.

Has the tyre been left sat in something? like a puddle that may be contaminated?

It duz seem very strange that only part of the tyre has gon thru! Unlkess youv been havin fun with the bak brake (if ya hav then wel dun cuz i cant get mine 2 lok up )

My guess is that the uneven wear is, as Bigash says, down to the previous owner's over-enthusiastic use of the rear brake rather than anything else. It must have caused some vibration being out of balance like that

The hugger should be fine. I had a Skidmarx hugger on my SDR and it was as close as that but didn't move more than a couple of mm with the vibrations as the sides are quite sturdy and keep it all in check. You can bend it by hand to touch the tyre (which is the correct spelling - even PHPBB knows that!! ) but it won't touch under normal riding conditions.

I'd remove that hugger, not because of the tyre though - it looks pants!
