Neutered SD!

I’ve never used the baffles for my Akras (Race) till now.. Man what a difference a few metal tubes can make!
I’m having in re-registered in Queensland and need it to get a roadworthy certificate but afterwards they’re coming straight off!

Where is the boom, the thunder and fire? It almost brought me down on my commute to work this morning and it actually made me feel more vulnerable as cars couldn’t hear me coming..

I’m still a firm believer of ‘Loud pipes save lives’.

The only ‘moment’ I’ve ever had with cars pulling out in front of me was on a really quiet bike..

What do you think?

No baffles (even if I had a choice...)

I've been happy with baffles in but then it turned out at Brands that even with baffles in I'm still hitting 103-104 decibels so I don't think it'd be a good idea to take em out.

On the RC8 I've left the baffles in and it sounds great but then the akra for that is not baffled for the road either and so is still 102db.

Overall though the RC8 sounds louder than the SD which is obviously due to the location of the exhaust and so it seems like you've got the baffles out anyway without actually removing them so it still feels like you're getting that louder unbaffled sound compared to other bikes but without pissing off the general public as much, plus being low down it doesn't pump noise and exhaust gases into the nearest open car window in traffic which can only keep them even happier.

I'm with SDR on this one.

I know it's not correct, but whenever I hear loud pipes I assume the rider has poo in his helmet. I also know I'm a hypocrite because I do plenty of antisocial things on a bike, but I'm also pretty sure that loud pipes make a good number of drivers want to kill bikers.

Volume is somewhat a matter of age and attitude. The older you get the more peace and quiet you prefer.

I've had my share of loud bikes in 32 years of riding and loved every minute of them. My '69 Camaro has a Flowmaster exhaust and it's louder than Akra's with the baffles out, but it's driven less than a 1,000 miles a year.

As overly-sensitive, judgmental, critical, opinionated, and empowered as the general population has become I prefer to fly under the radar for the most part.

Well, some say the geniuses are ostracized?... I dunno.

I challenge a person to stand on my favorite road and listen as I go by, of course I am not on the throttle hard 9/10ths of the time but me pumpkin is quiet,

even without baffles, most of the negative press we all get is from,, #1, LOUD FULL THROTTLE JAP BIKES !!

If I shift conservatively and do not wind my engine up with lots of throttle, my bike is quiet, I do not like LOUD.

I was actually thinking of this for the last few days, the jap bike riders that see me and get all Getty, stop at the light and flip up the shield,

then say.... Are you joe?..... and I say yes I am.. thanks, they are the ones that think,.... it is in style now to run a quiet pipe.

I can respect a man that exhibits self control. The right hand is also in charge of the noise that is emitted from the pipe and since we know most

deer whistles do not work then the pipe could well save yer life. we may never know how many times?

whether you think people are being dull, square, conservative, old before their time etc, the fact is that you affect hundreds of people if your bike is too loud. It is generally just you enjoying the noise. Selfish behaviour will come back and bite us all. I agree that the main culprit is jap 4s with loud pipes being redlined, but they are just the same as us - bikers. We all need to be considerate. Loud pipes may save lives, but frankly do you think Mr non-bike riding Bloggs gives a turd if he never sees another bike again? His argument might very well be "not riding bikes saves lives!"Frankly it is a bit sad that we have to resort to self interested reasons to justify the noise or that the reason for being considerate is to ensure we keep the priviledge of riding and not simply for the reason of being considerate. It's a small planet people, and as Joe says we are just one small. Just my view. Inconsiderate people piss me off. Baffles in.

Maybe it's just me...but I bought my SDR because of the way it handles and not to tell the world to fook off

I'm a 40 year old engineer, father of 2, has a dog and a diesel station wagon so would be pathetic pretending to be a hooligan anyway If I need the cars to notice me I just blip the throttle.

FWIW my baffles are out, purely as I HAD to try it 2 weeks ago and never got round to putting them back in. They probably will go back in only to try and save any grief from the neighbours - not that know any of them but its pretty quiet where I am and I like it that way so I need to do my bit (HAHAHA he say buying Akrapovics for a V-twin!!!)

I'd have a go without the bungs in just to hear it but I'd have to do a bit of grinding (where the allen bolt is)
