You may find the title of the post a _little_ misleading...

Comin home from work on Friday, riding up a hill, thru an intersection - bam. Im on the footpath doing a body check to see if all my bits are still there.

This rav4 suffered enough damage from the bike sliding into it, it had to be towed away.

The big crack in the windshield is where my body hit, before flying through the air 20feet or so.

Fuel, coolant and oil was pissing out everwhere.

I even drew a picture...

So the woman in the blue focus turned across my lane without looking. She slowed down halfway across my lane for some reason and I thought she was actually just going to stop in the middle of the street (cos I thought she had seen me by this point) So I took evasive action and swerved to my left. However she wasnt stopping, just slowing down. I clip the front of her car, let go of the handlebars and just go completely limp. I knew I was in trouble because I didnt have my passport on me and this was going to be an international flight; destination pavement.
Ive landed near the gutter after doing my aerial manouvers for the previous 20 feet and rolled up over the gutter and onto the footpath. I came to stop, sitting up on my arse, looking around thinking to myself...

"How the fook am I alive?"

As you may notice a medical centre is RIGHT there and 2 doctors came to my aid within seconds, where I abruptly told them I was fine. Ambulance was there within 90 seconds and I was soon swooshed away to the ER, where they too discovered that i was "fine." I put that in quotes because I consider a broken foot, sprayned ankle, and some nasty road rash on my knees to be "fine" considering the circumstances.

I was wearing a shoei helmet, teknic summer jacket, gloves, Billabong jeans (that have no scuff marks or tears whatsoever, even tho both knees are very very bloody + burnt) and just some cross trainer type shoes.
The helmet is trashed, yet I have no head injury, headaches or any neck pain to complain about. The jacket has worn away a shoulder pad armour down to virtually nothing, and I have no bruises, soreness or anything to complain about with my shoulders. I was wearing motocross gloves with plastic knuckles. The knuckles are worn away to nothing on the gloves and I have no cuts bruises or soreness in my hands at all. A few joints are a little stiff but it just feels like Ive had a big workout @ the gym.

The only places I do hurt are the areas where I didnt have motorcycle gear on...
ie: shoes and pants. Had I been wearing my riding boots and draggin jeans, I think I would have gotten off without any injuries at all.

I never saw the woman. She never came over to check on me while i was being worked on by the ambo's. That pissed me off a fair bit. I could have been dead for all she knew...

But anyway... I am one lucky motherfarker.

So can anyone recommend some shoes that are good for riding in and still ok to walk / work in?

Damn bro - im real glad your basically in 1 piece! (1 week in a cast is nothin!).
The bike actually looks in better shape than i thought it would considering the accident!

In fairness to the women who pulled across you she was probly in shock which is why you didnt see her! (although as usual box drivers dont look properly and cant see any further than the end of their bonnets!)

The city streets are just a game of dodgems - makes me wanna quit street riding and just do track days full time!!!
