New (to me) SDR, 2008 - Headlight Problem

Hey all,

Another slight niggle.. Headlight not turning on at all (although top parking light is working).

Wondering how I may find out what the problem is.. However I did notice when I pulled down the front mask, the connector and connector pins didn't seem to line up.

There are five metal slots in the female end.. but only 4 connector pins coming from the male end... Can someone look at theirs and tell me if this is correct/accurate/supposed to be this way?

Unless the headlight setup is completely different than the standard SD, that's not the headlight plug. It should be a three pronged affair (at 90 dgrees to one another forming a U) if same as SD.

Sorry you are so many issues with your (new to you) bike.

Again, those fook wits at Del Amo...you really need to go over thatt bike with a fine tooth comb.

IM back... Mine is an o8SDR, the headlight works as it should and the connecter is the same as yours. Four males FIVE females. So you can rule that out.
I assume you checked the fuse and bulb.. of course. Maybe they took the fuse out to map/work on the bike then forgot to reinstall the fuse?

DOH/..wait, wait wait. I think yours are in a different config then mine. I think mine where in a u shape. fack now I gota back and look again..
This is looking at it as if it were plugged in. NOT looking into it unplugged like your picture. So plugged in the wire color (assuming they are same color) is laid out like this.



Glad I caught that.. Also made the image link goto Motohollies site instead of imageshack just cause... Hey maybe he will send me an airbox for that?

Could be bulb... or anything... ugh.

Tyler, not to piss in your Wheaties but maybe you should ship that bike back. This all could be as I suspect, the tip of the iceberg. Even if you bought it "as is", California has very struck lemon laws. Tell them you have consulted a lemon law attorney in San Diego and are considering hiring him.
This all just smells fishy. No f'ingway they went through this bike.
I wish I was in a better position to help with this.

Turns out to be the bulb.. so simple...

And I took a better look at the connector (female end) and it was right before I messed with it... so it's all good now except for the beams shooting to the sky.

That, and my vent line inside the gas cap being pinched off..
