safe gents!

as you can see i am already a member on the forum as i have an rc8 at the mo. i am however getting rid of the 8 in favour of an SD. the reasons for this are A. the cost of insurance for me.(£2850)fully comp. B. the price of the Akra.(the price of most things for it for that matter) etc etc. ive always loved the mean aggresive looks of the SD, and believe it or not its a hell of a lot cheaper on insurance.

so what i would like to know is, does anyone have any experience with the mivv suono's? i think they are by far the best looking exhausts. what difference does the moto hooligan air box etc make to a standard SD. what are the luggage option like?

and what are your top 5 mods?

IIRC someone had mivvis and found them very loud !

Motobox is said to improve throttle response and sound good! (not tried one myself)

Luggage wise you can go for the tankbag which is OK or someone here made up a basic rack to keep saddle bags away from the exhausts, depends how much luggage you want to carry

Replacing the airbox with either the motohooligan or the CPR system makes all the difference, this together with the other must do's really.
Start with dumping the anchor called exhaust, it weights a ton, gets stinking hot and robs power.
A proper map, SAS and O2 sensors switched off also makes a difference to make it run better and to get rid of the dreaded surge.

I have the Mivv Suono's in SS. You have to like them to live with them. The finish is also not as god as some, I had to "work" the brackets a bit to get a good fit.
The original db killers are very restrictive = useless
Without it is very loud! I made some perforated inserts myself so it is in the middle. Sure I wont pass any trackday noise test in the UK though.

Ah ok cool, how much did u pay for your mivvs? That insert looks a lot less restrictive. But I will have to get bits one step at a time.

Luggage is for potential European touring etc. but I was just wondering.

Top 5 mods...

Let's try engine wise:

- akrapovic ( less weight, less heat, more noise but not over the top )
- tuneecu ( cheap cable, several maps available from lot's of nice guys around here )
- remove SAS, switch of O2 sensor

These will give a better low rpm drivability ( higher gear, lower rpm without the shaking a rattle of the original set up

- motobox or other filter box (
- rc8 trumpets
- oval admissions butterflies
- change ecu map setup
- start again

And some horse power is released

Chassis set up:

- WP or Scott steering damper ( for the lightweight front end do less shakes and tank slappers lol )
- new rearsets to get the foot pegs higher
- depending on the weight: new front end springs or revalve
- suspension and sag setup
-smaller and lighter batery
- carbon dymags wheels

Touring:

- tank bag
- rear support for side bags
- lot's of other make do bag inventions ( not the best bike for touring options )

Bling:

5 is not enough lol

- carbon or fiberglass rear cowl
- carbon front and rear mudguard
- carbon lower spoiler
- carbon radiator covers
- orange anodised:
frame plugs,
bar weights replacement
clutch, brake reservoir covers
- small and adjustable levers
- smaller licence and side markers support
- etc etc etc

Just make good friend with your bank manager or cut or credit card or just block ebay from your pc and mobile LOLOLOL

Hand guards are useful to save your levers if you bin it. The acerbis street fighter guards are ok, but mine tore off after a lowside. They did save my levers however. Now I have KTM evolution handguards with clamps, and the skinny rectangular deflectors.

You know where I'm going with this. Tuneecu is you r best investment. It allows you to remove the SAS, O2 sensors, remove the restrictor in 2nd-3rd gear, upload a decent map AND your diagnostics + throttle body sync.... waow all for the price of the cable and a big thanks to Tom and Alain.
To get results get rid of the exhaust boat anchor and get a proper air filter. A custom map is recommended but you might find something suitable for your bike in the list here on the forum.
Set your suspension up properly, no need to trow money at this till you are getting at the limit of it.
The rest is optional and or cosmetic as you like or can afford...

Probably forgotten a few things but I guess that is covered by other members...

Will it make much of a problem that I'm coming from an RC8?

In order..
1) Plenty of fresh underwear.
2) A little chat with yerself about how much lean you can actually get on a bike.
3) Crash bungs.
4) More crash bungs.
5) More clean underpants.
6) Did I mention crash bungs?
