While your at it..............ditch your spanner men for guys who will actually tighten stuff up, make sure it's all in line and set up right, and possilbly listen to you this time and change what you ask to be changed. Frustrates the shite outta me reading those past blog stories. I can see so many missed opertunities from bad prep and communication.

BTW, i bought some random stuff off your smugmug site to help out before you took it down. I understand the huge faring space i could command with my $47 input in the bike, but i'll let you off.

#10Ahhhhh, Viking... you remind me of my roots - NY - a place where a spade is called a spade regardless of the fallout. Truth is you couldn't be more right. The opportunity I had to race then was that. There was less knowledge about racing, there no budget for wrenches. All help was quite incredibly, charity. And at that price you can't complain - only say thanks. And that's all I will do. However, having said that, the one person who WAS on the payroll back then quite ironically, and consistently, represented an immovable source of "support" which best can be described in one word - "vandalism."
Most things in life make sense. Other things you struggle to make sense of. And some just never will. That guy never will. At least not to me. But those days are over. Things are very different now. Our RC8R has been ready to race over a month now. That's two months early - a first for any team I've ridden for.
This is also why our SDR is coming back to life. Things make sense. We have to find a wrecked SD or SDR to make it all come together again. Searching now.

With charity like that it'd be better to refuse it and struggle towards the goal solo. I think alot of the time it's better to be a one or two man team and take small progressive shuffles forward than have a multi man team of guys who want to play race team but zig zag toward the end goal. As you say, you know all this and its in the past now.
Can you divulge any info on 2012? Bike spec, team, tyres?
You should definatley start a thread for your SD. When i crashed mine i posted up and all the guys on here came to the table with some very generous deals. I'd say i speak for the vast majority of the board when i say we all want to see it rebuild and out there bashing bars with 1098's again. You contributed to the forum with all the Nichols and geo info, i'm sure the guys can give a bit back. I've got a few spare parts i'd be happy to send over to help out. Magura clutch master cylinder etc.
I'd be interested to see which way you go with it. Which chassis, geo, suspention etc etc.
Remember you were gonna get back to me about that PM with some info when you get 5mins too.

#12Does anyone know of any wrecked SDRs around? Or standard SDs? The shop owns our wrecked bike. Have decent money in it. I'm trying to turn one wrecked race SDR into two different bikes - one with a clean streetbike title, the other with a salvage title if it comes to it. One a complete streetbike that we will make a race-replica that they can sell, the other the actual race bike with a salvage title that I end up owning/racing. I have to supply the parts to do this. I've been looking but I'm not finding much.

Yes they sold the motor to that wrecked parts bike they bought. I think to a hill climber? Yeah, in fact I know to a hill climber. That parts bike was also sliced up to make our old SD B-bike whole again. They sold that too. So right now there is a destroyed SDR that looks like it's been blown up or dropped off a cliff. There's a spare SD frame. A solid SDR motor that's basically virgin. I think forks that are straight, and forks that are toast. A Dannyboy Boyd custom fabricated swingarm. And some very creatively twisted wheels.. Some other parts too but you see why we need another bike. It'd be cheaper than buying parts I think.
Again I need to stress this. Guess it's a draw-back to speaking frankly. I never had a problem with Tri Valley Moto. Always been honored to ride for them. Lucky in fact. It's just at the beginning before Mike ever really submersed himself in the race program, I had to scramble to put the missing pieces of our effort together with whatever resources I had. One year it was a lot of my money, other years it was a lot of external, very generous help - all of which I will forever be blessed to have been a part of. To clear up any mystery surrounding my earlier comments about "vandalism" - that's just my creative way of stating that one of the key players back in the beginning, who was supposed to be helping with suspension specifically, did an amazingly poor job. Defiant even. This was in 2009 mainly, and the first few races of 2010. And it ruined our chances of being more successful.
I wrote a story a while back which specifically addresses this turning point in our race program - the parting of the surviving members of Tri Valley Moto's race program, from the failed members of Tri Valley Moto's race program. Like much of what I write there is a lot I leave between the lines - partly because I wasn't allowed to talk about it at the time. Also though, typically my everyday life runs in parallels with my race life. Therefore my race stories are not all about racing, the rest is about life. In this case the race story takes on two meanings - both of which refer to major changes. One in racing, the other at home. The story is titled . Maybe now it will make more sense.
