My main helmet is a full face Shoei, but I would also like to have a more casual "summertime" helmet. But I'd like a proper open face helmet, not one of those "cruiser" hats. I am wondering if anyone with experience can recommend a brand. I understand that Davida is good (but here in Canada they are both very expensive and very difficult to obtain) and I am also looking at one of the Noland helmets (open face but with clear faceshield and a dark shield that comes down over this)..there are also some very reasonably priced Chinese clones of the Noland but ..but since "made in China" now means "don't put it in your mouth", I wonder about the wisdom of entrusting my head to that cost cutting economy. Any experienced advice will be appreciated.

#2If you're going open-face helmet, I think this is the coolest looking (and functioning) bucket out there. Cheap, too. $80 on fleabay. LED taillight for visibility. Probably not great for above 70MPH, as it's open face/duck billed, but I'm tempted to get one as a city/commuter/summer lid.

#10I used to have a Roof Boxer, which is a really good open face lid, plus you can close it up into a full face if required....however, once it was worn out after about 5 years I decided I would not be buying another open face lid for the reasons listed above. I'm ugly enough already.
That said it's your choice, so if you're rock n roll enough go for it!

#21fook me, a stone hit my visor today and bounced off onto my leg, just missing the tank as it scorched by. Jeeeeeeesus it fookin hurt, so I think if I was wearing an open face helmet, it hit so hard that it would have embedded into my face. Praise be for Full face helmets

#22Big ups to the bug eaters, the guys who can take a half empty beer can in the face at freeway speed, the marble sized pebble off the back of the dump truck right into a tooth. My hero's. Oh yah, great when you have a full windscreen like on a goldwing. You need a talkie too then, and a heated seat, and auto reverse.

#23I use a full face when riding the SD but when riding the older bikes - Norton or Triumph I wear a shuberth open face with visor, stops the rocks bugs etc but still gives good ventilation and is relatively quiet

Maybe I gave the wrong idea when I said the above...I meant, "two MORE feet"...its about four feet deep in front of the garage now...and another snowstorm is supposed to hit tomorrow night....
Forget the open face helmet. you talked me out of it...or at least delayed the decison for months....the full face Shoei is fine...also its the most comfortable helmet I've ever had in 44 years of motorcycling. Whenever I try a different helmet on...I realise how comfy it is...
