I have been lurking to throw ca$h at a off road bike that I could also use for commuting to work.
KTM was logically my first choice but after discovering their ridiculous pricing here in ozzie I had a look at the other contenders.

Finally decided on the Husky TE450. Basically got this 2010 run out model for AU$ 3000 cheaper than a KTM 2011 EXC250F...Ouch KTM!!!
Also included an enduro awning tent, billet fuel cap, work stand (yes the big proper one under the engine!) and a whole lot of other goodies. I'll put pics up later.
The other reason I got the Husky is the dealer is much more helpful and friendly than the KTM stealer here.
They asked me if I had a full or learned license, after I told them full, they put the latest derestricted tune in the fuel injection and ripped out the cat/ restrictor out the exhaust.
Compared to KTM it has a fan (useful here as it is mostly hot) but the suspension might not be as good as the white power stuff but feels good to me.

So all up I'm rapped with it!!!

Interesting fact! It has a magura clutch and on the reservoir it says magura hydraulic fluid only but the Husqvarna manual recommends 5 W fork oil!


The SD is still my all time favorite bike but sorry KTM Australia, 3K ???!!!! (almost 30% extra) you have to do better to get my custom!

You're gonna have a blast on that up there in Townsville. I hear there is some pretty good two track around those parts and places you can ride to and on the beach. Enjoy!

I'll be headed to Aus in the October time frame and am looking forward to getting in some riding. Shouldn't be too hot around that time.

you got the better bike there mate, the marzocchi suspension is much better than the WP stuff as standard, at least on enduros from my experience, and the rising rate rear is waaaay better than the cantilever KTM set up. if you look at the rocker for the rear suspension you will see a grease nipple, grease it! they never get done at PD, one needle bearing in the rocker doesn't have a nipple so if you intend using it off road make a point of greasing that bearing regularly, i'd also pull the triple and grease the head bearings they're usually a bit light on too.
I love my TE, even on road legal knobbies it rips! loads of torque and it's stupid fast for an enduro, the only niggles aside from the suspension rocker grease issue would be the tank overflow hose should be routed through the wiring keeper on the RHS of the frame rather than the steering head and the fork seals can be a real pain, because they're big, 46mm they can leak easily when they get grit under the wiper, i run fork socks and change them each ride and since then no leaks from my fork seals at all.

Nice, I did a days enduro riding on a Suzuki 400 around Cairns a few years ago, was really good fun, till he told me about these sharp vines with thorns on that sometimes hang down from the trees and can cause some serious injury to your neck..........

yeah, mine is an 07, last of the carbed ones, the marzocchis were notorious for leaking seals so hopefully you should be all sweet with the kayabas, a mate has a 310 which is brand new and i've ridden it, awesome bit of kit, didn't notice the different brand of suspension though, but it rode nice. congrats, ride the wheels off it mate!
