Gotta love this bike, especially in Orange Superduke...which reportedly goes faster than the black version!
Did you know that KTM have commented on this publicly, but deny this alligation. It has been proven on the Dyno at HM Racing in Kent in early 2006. John actaully tested 3 black SD's and 3 Orange SD's in the same conditions and found all 3 Orange had more HP and accelerated quicker that any of the black bikes. These bikes were all new, just delivered from the Mattighofen factory to Kentshire.
The top dyno hp results from any of the black SD's was 105hp and the best result for the best Orange was 115hp. They found that even the slowest Orange SD was rating at 107hp, which is 2hp more than the most powerful black SD (all SD's were in stock trim).
Hence the PGM team chose to use the Orange model for their racing effort, tuned by HM Racing. This quickly secured a debut win at Cadwell Park on March 2006
The chaps from Road and Track Dyno in Buckinghamshire reviewed the information and concurred. Regardless the KTM designer Gerald Kiska has refused to comment.
MCNews Australia also was mentioned... but they were unable to provide conclusive evidence as they only tested 1 bike:
