People saying list slow - so here i go !

Tail light's not been working . Put new fuse in ( was blown ) and all seems well while bike just sitting pressing brake levers.
However go for a ride ( whatever ) and notice tail light out again. ( Only thing not working ).....

Disconnect the rear tail light harness from the connector under the seat to see if it would still blow a fuse - sure enough - as soon as i turn key on it blows. ( FUSE 3 )...

Again , i'm not an electrical engineer and don't usually do well with electrics ( Getting better tho ) - what could be the problem - do i have to trace every wire to find a short somewhere ?

with the tail light connector separated i put a test light on the main harness tail light connector and it gets one hot wire . I suspect the issue if in front of that main tail light connection under the seat.

Now here's the other part of this - a simple ( seemingly should be simple ) tail light fuse results in me taking the whole tail section off the bike to get rid of that silver - gona black it out. and polish the rear exhaust "Y" section while i'm at it.

How would i go about finding the short though ( if it's even got a short ).... i guess i'll have to dig out the wiring diagram again....

Well i traced this short down .
turns out it was a horn wire against the exhaust .
i'm starting to get electrical just a bit more .

So , just to paint the subframe now and button things back up , it's all good !

that thing was not so much fun to sand down - also rubbed it down with acetone to soften the paint . Put a metal etching primer on then the black ...

This really wasn't so bad at all.
almost didn't spray the flip flop paint because hard to get good even coverage on tubing , but i cracked down . It's applied a touch heavier than i was hoping but that's what happens when you try to get a good even coverage on tubing. anyway - i'm pleased. AND i got brake light now ...



if it weren't for chasing down a short this project would only have taken a day and a half . All buttoned back up and ready to go - i have the day off tomorrow too.
You can't see it but i installed a billet fuel filter

Whats flip-flop paint mate, some kind of thing only americans understand ?

I was being half serious, the underlying point of the post was that i could have looked it up and found the answer.

We just call it colour change paint here, never heard the term flip flop beyond a kiwi trying to describe a pair of pluggers.

All the young-uns here slop it over their import cars. The Blacks look nicer than the loud candy colours you see around.
