Performance bikes mag have published a group test of super nakeds at the Nurburgring. Bikes are Superduke, Monster S4RS, Speed Triple 1050 and the Tuono Factory. Firstly, I'm a little disapointed they didn't test the SD 'R', the Ducati and Aprillia are the factory specials, so why not the KTM? Having said that, I don't think it would have made much difference, the KTM only lost out on sheer power to the Tuono and the SDR is the same as the standard model in that respect. Reading between the lines though, the KTM was the best bike here and the one liked most by the testers.
A couple of things to look out for in the write up, the scrapes on the exhaust of the SD! and check out the torque and power curves against the opposition, super smooth!
Just a couple of personal comments about the Tuono, it's not as though I'm biased or anything! There's no hiding it's a sportbike with the fairing missing, bits of plastic here and there hiding the bits a fairing would normaly hide, and WTF IS GOING ON WITH THE COLOUR!!! 'KIN TARTS HANDBAG!!!!! WHERE'S THE BLACK FORCHRISTSAKE!!!!! sorry, rant over.

For those don't already get it, it's also worth buying this months Bike magazine for a full on performance naked super test. A round up of ten big nakeds: SD, Tuono, Ducati Monster, Yam FZ1, Moto Morini Veloce, BMW K1200R, Triumph Speed Triple, MV Augusta Brutalle 910R, Benelli TNT Sport and Kawa Z1000.

I won't spoil it as it's a good read... ok I will...Tuono tops it, SD comes in forth... boo hiss.

Cheers Doc - thats good reading [we won't get that for at least a month down here... ]

I agree - should have used an R
You could always subscribe. I pay £8 every 3 months, which isn't too bad. Probably a bit more to where you live, but maybe worth it.

Here's my trip, it's a heavy boat anchor with a flexy chassis, horrid brakes and no top end, looks the biz though

Something else to add, cycleworld weighed the 07 SD and 07 tuono on the same scale fully fueled, the SD was 30lbs lighter.

Here's the thing, if you want to see real testing you have to look at mags that have real riders to do it, you read a test by your average moto journo hack you never know what you'll get.
You read a test with experienced racers in the saddle the SD will always come out on top.
