#8Don't know where your getting your info from about fuel prices in the US,, avarage price for un-leaded regular is like $3.50 a gallon, and the SD won't run too good on it,,, and remember this , it's cut with E10 Ethanol,, it's not really "petrol" at all I just bought 5 gallons of Cam 2 race fuel for a tad over 10 bucks a gallon , 120 octane , no E10,, and the front tyre doesn't spend much time on the ground,, it didn't the other day anyway,,,,high prices in Scotland it's probley "fuel taxes" imposed by the govornment thats inflating the prices so high, at least it's still an "oil based" fuel you guy's are getting,,,,

#9How are you guys getting £20 +pounds worth in a superduke's tank? If I fill mine up from fumes I can barely cram £15 into it. Is the bigger 07 on tank, really that much bigger?

#10Here in Cali I'm paying $4.17 a gallon for premium which I know is way cheaper than you guys across the pond. I saw something recently that said one reason gas cost so much over there is because oil is bought using the American dollar, which means England has to buy dollars then use them to buy oil. Not sure how true that is but might explain your high prices. That and your governments like to take as much of your hard earned money as possible.

#14Well, it's budget day tomorrow, so let's see if the rumoured fuel duty stabiliser replaces the fuel duty escalator (a 5p rise is already in the pipeline)

#17You guys over there need to do like the mid east counrties are doing right now and hit the streets and tell the government "lower our taxes and let us keep our money for ourselves" no killing each other over it though. that's just ridiculous.

#18What I dont understand is prior to the GFC we were paying approx A$1.50 a lt, at that time oil was US$150 a barrel and the Aussie $ was about 70c US. So that equates to A$215 a barrel.
Once again we are paying approx A$1.50 per lt, oil is US$105 per barrel and the Aussie dollar is at parity with the US.
So we are now paying the same as we were 3 years ago and the comparative oil price is less than halfof what it was, HTF does this work?????
Price gouging by oil companies?

#22ktmguy is onto something there.....
One factor to put in there is the oil search game that oil companies play. They spend millions on millions for exploration (increasingly finding nothing, I compare it to ultra high stakes poker/gambling, the cost of producing said oil once found is forever increasing (esp in western world) but the question is......
If the oil was found 20+ years ago when the oil price was $20 a bbl and the decision was made shortly after to setup a refinery etc to produce the oil they are laughing all the way to the bank. If it's profitable at $20 a bbl what do you think $105 means!
It's definitely driven by taxes primarily. The oil companies pay royalties to the gubermant and then you pay GST/VAT on the fuel. Dont you love paying tax twice or is that three times as you're still paying income tax! Or is that 4 times when you consider speed cameras! lol
time for one last drink night guys.
