Photos of Canadian KTM Superduke Race Pits

This summer was the first time that KTM sds have raced in Canada. Here are two pictures from a race I saw this summer in Calgary, Alberta...part of the PartsCanada National Superbike Series...SD 990Rs in competition with BMW, Buell and Ducati...big twins...Their class is called "Thunder Bike"...or "Thunder Class".......I think..something like that... I have more photos...one or two of starting grid..nothing of actual race (too far away for my little digital camera)...but more of pit area...thought some might be interested in these images.

Ducatis won but the KTMs didn't do too bad...it was their first time out...no fairings, upright bars, etc..against full race equipped Ducatis..

If it's the same as thunder bikes over here it is based around power to weight ratios so that bikes that otherwise don't fit in to any race series can race, I think lighter bikes can add ballast to bring them up to the correct weight so seems pretty fair to me.

Isn't there some saying about the difference between bike and car racing?..something like, "in automobile racing its 70 % the car and 30% the driver and in motorcycle racing its 70% the rider and 30% the bike"..something like that? Maybe I have the ratios wrong. But I never noticed any of these "thunder" bikes really going all that much faster than any others...and I watched these races before KTM joined this year...it always looked to me more like it was the riders who made the difference.
