Attached are a couple of pictures of the following: Ceramic coating on pipe, Carrozerria wheels and rotors, Rizoma rearsets, 520 chain and sprocket kit and last but not least, clear LED tail/brake light. Think it turned out pretty good. Now I gotta take a step back and leave well enough alone for a while...the wallet can't take much more of this!

Mate, nice mods and super clean ride. This sports max tyres are they the latest out? If so post an opinion when you've used them a bit thanks.
aussie they are sportmax Q2's not the new one but i am a big fan of the q2's
I have the GP Racers on my track bike, which I believe are just The Q2's in slick form. And yes they wear and perform really well.
The new Dunlop cut tyre is appealing to me cause if they are sticky enough I'll change to them so I can run on a wet/damp track.

Sorry don't mean to hijack this thread.

Also Lowrance, what discs f&r are you running ,I particularly like the fronts.

Yep, disks are Carrozzeria and tyres are Q2s (didn't know there was anything newer than these).

Been running Q2's for a while now (on my 4th set) and like them a lot. They wear really well (compared to other mfrs tyres) and stick n slide predictably. I get 1K miles outta every tyre I've tried on this bike with the fronts wearing out as quickly as the rears. For some reason I can get almost 2 rears to a front with these Q2s (around 1200 to the rear and 2000 miles on the front).

Did a track day a couple of months ago at Chuckwalla here in So Cal and was going to throw some D211s on the bike but couldn't locate any in time so I left on a fairly new set of Q2s that were on the bike. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I was not going race pace but I certainly wasn't sitting around watching the grass grow either. The tyres warmed up quickly which I expected but what I didn't expect was that they stayed so consitent for the full 20 minute sessions. Was learning a new track so by second half of the day really started getting down to some faily quick times and tyres were still hanging nicely. Only one spot on the track (turn 9 comming onto back shute headed to fast esses) I was pushing hard enough to slide and it did so predictably and consistently.

Gotta say the SD surprsed me that day. Busted it's track cherry. Didn't think it'd be all that suitable for track days (more suited to tight canyon roads). Caught myself looking at all the nice track hardware and was starting to jones for a new bike. Got out on the track and those feeling were soon replaced with wonder as to why all of these nice bikes were in my way (I was in a pretty quick B group as well). Quite a few people were comming over to check out the strange bike that was blowing them into the weeds...that was fun!

So, in lieu of new bike decided to drop some coin on old faithful here and am glad I did. Looks good, goes like stink and is unique! What more could you ask for?

Sorry, little off topic....
Looking good John. I really like the ceramic coating.

How much easier are the new axle blocks to get aligned? The original setup isn't great. Gearing changes have me spending too much time trying to get proper alignment.
Had to build the 520 kit myself. Do a search as I've listed all of the details for the chain and the two sprocket suppliers there. The chain is a DID ZVM-X and is currently the strongest 520 on the market. All up price was prety reasonable:

$129 - Chain
$54 - Rear sprocket
$25 - Front Sprocket

The new axel blocks don't really help at all. There is no reference mark on the swingarm worth trying to use for alignment. I adjust my wheel alignment by measuring the distance from front of axel block to surface the adjustment bolts are threaded into. This surface was controlled during the machining process of the swingarm using the axle bore as a datum. You can verify it's the same from side to side by measuring from flat surface to the swing arm pivot point.

Well, someone mentioned I should go with Galfer or Braking rotors....they were right. The Carrozeria rotors started rusting within 100 miles of mounting them. Corroded everywhere the pads didn't touch.

Complained and they swapped them out for Galfers. much happier now!

John
Grendel is curious, is the wheel made to use the existing cush drive and carrier or did you replace the whole thing?

BTW, love the look. Nice tasteful.
looks awesome lawrence, what is that rear rotor mate? and will it fit a std wheel?
like grendel, i'd like to know if you need a new cush drive set up and sprocket for the carrozerias too?

cheers,
paul.
oh yeah, where did you get em??
The cush drive is Carrozzeria's own design so OEM sprockets will not work. They use Kawasaki sprockets (ZX10 for 525 and ZX6 for 520). Better option really as you have unlimited sources for rear sprockets.

The rear rotor is Galfer and will not fit the standard wheel. The front rotors in these pics are Carrozzeria's. They have exceptional power and feel with the Galfer HH pads but the rust after just a couople of rides was unacceptable. Got the Galfer front rotors mounted up and they look exactly like the rear for overall shape....they will fit the standard wheels.

John
Very nice looking bike. I really like the look of those wheels. You wouldn't want to sell the stock foot pegs would you? I need a set, and don't want to buy new ones. Thanks,Dave
That's actually my WR. The YZ is in the far back of the garage (you can just barely make it out in the top picture....it's being punished for throwing me off at Adam's supermoto track day).

The mirrors are Rizoma. They are not completely useless for seeing where you've been but the stockers are better.

Chuckwalla is every bit as good as you've heard and the SD works really well there. It's a nice flowing track (not a lot of point and shoot crap). Pretty hot at the moment so will be waiting until November before heading back out there.

John
Nice job! Those wheels are beautiful. Who made your chain and sprocket?

Let me know when you're in LA...we'll show you some good riding WestCoast Style.....and not fooking Hollywood!
Lowrance,
That is a spectacular job. Very well executed, with all the right upgrades.
I sense my wallet will be getting thinner......

I am in Thousand Oaks. Are you in this area?

I'm in Redondo Beach. Usually ride the SM mountains if I'm out on the SD. As a matter of fact I'm heading to the Rock Store tomorrow (every other Friday off) for a quick blast.

Let me know if you interested in hooking up for a ride.

Do a search on "520 conversion kit". I've posted all of the info there.
