Pikes Peak

Does anyone here know if anybody has ever run an SD up Pikes Peak?

Seems to be mostly run at speeds below 130 so might suit the bike well. A Multistrada went up the hill at a fair pace, a 1290 should be made for the job!

Can you just enter and ride or do you need a current racing licence?

Having watched a few YouTube videos I think wobbling up the side of that hill would be great fun

I've done it on a V-Strom in 08. It was not paved the whole way back then. Torque monsters would all work great as it is switchbacks all the way up, so lots of full starts and near stops. No reason an SD could not fare well.

Stoped being lazy and looked up the rules. You need a current pro licence to get invited in so proper racers only. Makes sense I guess, keeps the body count low. If KTM USA had any sense they would fly McWilliams over and have him thrash a 1290 up there.

Looks like a fun road even outside the main event but 12000 feet is a long way up!!
