Hi, i have an 06 SD and totally love it for the same reasons we all do!

I want to order some cans for it but would value the benefit of your experience on a few points please.......

1. In the ideal world i would put on an Akra but money says i need to consider other options.
2. Thinking of either Remus ( had on TLS and loved them) or Leo Vinci.
Can you advise me on the best ( read best value ) placde to order them and a guide price?
3. Im assuming the Akra open map is the best option and a dealer will be happy to pass this service on.
4. Will there be any harmful effects of running motor while waiting for map?
5. In FAST BIKES under the buying used section they talk about changing cans with Akras..... They say just cans add 3bhp...but changing half system adds 10bhp and saves 10kg! ..
Now im confused here as i thought changing the cans meant getting rid of the cat anyway?
Are they confused with this and a full system?

Cheers guys!

.....and on the MCN thing, the fact that they say the shock is too harsh with liitle feed back seems to show their inexperience if anything. Plus they could have adjusted it easily surely....... rant ....rant ...rant.
Hi all the weight is in the original silencer and fitting slipons saves a lot of weight, perhaps up to 9kg. You will also see from other posts on this forum that the full system makes very little extra power over the cans [on a stock motor]

My advise would be to buy Akro's and have you dealer fit them along with the correct map. Advantages being, it's a KTM accesory and as such does not void the waranty or invalidate your insurance.... and there well made

Mine makes just over 121rwhp with only the slipons and map [according to the Dynojet mobile dyno]

Other cans don't void the warranty. As long as you have something that works like silencer, it's ok. At least so I was told by dealer.

Been riding about 80km in city with Leo's and stock mapping now. Seems that engine makes more heat but no other negative points.

I don't believe that Akra can do such a simple thing like silencer SO much better than others so it doesn't really matter what make they are, as long as you prefer something.
I saved 600€ with Leo's and sound is good, power is good (and will get better with new mapping).
Hi Ankka

Sorry but I dissagree. Making extra heat is a pretty big negative in my book !!!!

If something pops (and I hope it doesn't) and the dealer / KTM decides it's due to the Leos being fitted and not correctly mapped then your warranty is worth SFA.

Akras are not likely to be any better than Leos, HP etc BUT they are dealer supplied and warranted by KTM. They cost an arm and a leg, but you pays yer money and you takes yer choice.

Each to his own and by all means save the cash - just bear in mind that KTM may use the cans as a reason to wriggle out of a warranty claim and you may end up with a buggered motor and a huge bill to fix it.
Running aftermarket silencers and the stock map is ok,this i checked with my dealer before i got round to having the bike remapped with the LV's fitted..... running the open pipe map or Akro map as its known with the stock exhaust is a no no........ that will burn the cats out due to the increased fuel supply that the performance map has......

C'mon guys, Burnsy asked for advise, not bullshit opinions.

The full Akra + map gives around 7 to 10 extra HP and equal amount of torque throughout the entire rev range. And saves 9 KGs. As posted and discussed on this and many other forums too. Including dyno graphs. Yes, it's painfully expensive and not what Burnsy is after but that's not to say it doesn't work...

So one more time, the relative performance increase of the full Akra on a bone stock engine:
