For me, if I used these tyres on the road I would worry if I could maintain sufficient heat in them to keep them working properly. Heard a few tales of people buying super sticky race based rubber for the road, only to find they are on their arse when not expected.
Found this, it may give you another view;
Compounds are changing quite often but here is the latest.
The season will start off with the same compounds as in 08 for the most part. The tyres will begin to come available as the season develops.
The front 120/70-17 will be available in SC0, SC1,SC2 and SC3. The most useful of these is the SC1 and SC2 and offer the best references. The SC1 is a better choice for shorter races, lower temps and less abrasive tracks. The SC2 is the real work horse of the bunch and has a wide temp operating range, excellent grip and durability. The SC3 is for longer, hotter sprint races and some endurance events. We will see a new SC1 and SC2 by mid-season with improved grip and durability based on the latest data from World Superbike. The carcass construction will remain the same for 09 but was changed for 08 to give it a firmer feel under braking and turn in. This is due to change in material. Rider feedback was excellent all season on the front carcass and compounds.
As for the 190 slicks which will still be available in SC0, SC1,SC2 and SC3.
The SCO is a very good choice for qualifying and short sprint races. It is used best on less abrasive tracks but has a wide temp operating range and can run on tracks with high temps as long as the tracl grip is not too high.
The SC1 is a fantastic race tyre. It has a ton of grip and is very stable throughout a race. However, it will not handle too many heat cycles. It is a very good Sunday afternoon tyre. The SC2 is more sensitive to set up and is a works better on a hotter track. The SC2 tends to perform in a more consistant manner once it is at temp.
The SC3 is a great tyre for high temps, long races and or high abrasion surfaces.
The whole range will change by the end of 2009 with a new SC0 that works very well in on smoother tracks in higher temps.
The SC1 will be even better and will have more grip at a wider temp range making it the best choice for most actual races.
The SC2 will have better grip, closer to the 2008 SC1 but still have the consistant manner at higher temps.
The new SC3 will have better grip and still be aimed for use in higher temps on more abrasive tracks.
Hope this helps.
