Poor Helmet Design?

I have a Joe Rocket helmet, cheaper ($200 ish) I know. Main problem with it is the air comes up under the front of my helmet, straight off my chest and hits me in the face steady enough to make my eyes water when I'm over 50-60 mph.
This a factor of helmet design, riding position, or am I just strange?
The only way to stop this is to lean very far forward, with my chest nearly on the tank.
Do I need a different helmet, or maybe just a big, stupid windscreen on my SD

I'm wondering of if you have the correct size helmet...Does your helmet fit snug on your face?

Joe Rocket is trash. Spend the extra doe and get yourself a Shoei or Arai. It's just your grape!

I have an Arai, a Shoei and an AGV and dont have that problem with any of them. Im assuming it's your helmet. Before you spend the extra dough on a Shoei or Arai try them both. The arai tends to fit egg shaped heads better while Shoei's fit round heads better. My Shoei fits me better but I love both. The AGV isn't as good a quality inside and is ultra snug.

I bought the helmet when I got the SD, it fits well. I chose it not because of price, but because it was the only helmet there that was not a gaudy, neon colored nightmare.
Tried on an Arai, and it fit very well but it was bright blue with some awful tribal looking design on it.
Local KTM dealer carries a lot of rubbish like this. All I wanted was a flat black full face helmet. Not white, hi vis green, or something that looks like a 5 year old with a box of crayons designed it.

Guess I'm off helmet shopping, you guys confirmed my suspicions. Thanks.

lids often come with removable chin liner that fits exactly where the offending wind blast is hampering you - can you not buy an aftermarket one? Or get a Shoei and fit a whisper kit. Job done.

I suggest the X-11...I've had mine going on 8 years...i just put new chin pads in 2 days ago...great quality helmet with great ventilation to keep you cool.

I now have a new shark rsr2 which is a great helmet and super light, but i still use my shoei

I have a Joe rocket and it did the same thing. I only used it for about a year then got a barely used Arai from one of the guys on here. I had to wear sunglasses to eliminate the problem. I low light I used glasses with yellow lenses in them. I love my new Shoei X-12. It's expensive but insurance paid for it.

This didn't come with a chin liner, that would solve the problem tho. The only thing I saw like that aftermarket is for cold weather riding.
Sunglasses help it, to a degree, But does not eliminate the problem.

Nolan N102/N103. The only helmet I'll wear. The modular flip up chinbar makes conversation, not to mention emergency airway access, very easy. Having been the first on the scene of a guy who wrecked his 600 Daytona and wasn't breathing, thereby making me face the probability of removing a full face cheapass helmet in with a possible neck injury not very appealing. Fortunately, he started breathing again, and I got to cut off his Joe Rocket Leather Jacket with my Cold Steel folder very satisfying.

He ended up with only a broken collarbone, by the way.

Modular helmets. Accept no substitute.

Found a chin curtain for my helmet, have to order it tho.
Going to try that until I can get a new, much nicer helmet.
I've looked at a few modular helmets, they look like they would be heavier than a standard helmet.

Is there much difference?
