Will, I"ve NEVER had throttle issues. While I recognize that the SD is a light flywheel dry sump v-twin, I've just taken that in stride and improved my throttle discipline, and it's made me a better, smoother rider. The SD is a cruel mistress if I don't pay attention, but if I give her the respect she deserves, she'll rewards me unbelievably. Here's what works for me:

1) Set throttle cables to minimum slack
2) Set chain to minimum slack
3) Balance TBs
4) Adjust TPS
5) Set PCIII throttle position
6) Never go to trailing throttle; always be on the gas or neutral; feather the front brake while maintaing light positive throttle before roll-in to set the chassis; release the brake and accelerate through the apex, get the bike up on the tyre and roll the throttle on hard. Crack it, and the back end is likely to try to pass you.
7) Rinse, repeat.

From a cold start, the Duchess is very tempermental, but that lasts all of five minutes. After she's warmed up to 3 bars, though, she's smooth as a baby's arse.

Sorry Will, I misunderstood. I've never noticed any birds in my box.
Hey Zen, Im glad you got around to trying those flies..... So overall you think its an improvment over no flies at all? I have been thinking about knocking out a few pairs if anyone is intersted.
Zen,
I'm curious to here the report, no 'flies or small 'flies whats the preference. I was just reading the Butterflies thread today before you started this thread and was wondering what the results were.

Aaron, if it's advantageous I'm interested in trying a pair. It'll give me a reason to lift the tank and see the box again.
The ones I made for zen to try out are oval shaped, basicly the same as advancing the secondary opening. It dosnt create turbulence like simply decreasing the diameter of the fly. The only thing that makes me neurvous about selling these is if the screws are not properly retained by peening the end of the screw someone could end up with serious damage if one of the screws where to come out.

Im watching the mail and have seen no sign of these items as yet?..
Hmmmm. More goodies to buy....

Look forward to hearing more...
JOE!!!! You are alive! Long time no hear brotha.

I will have sone of these ready this weekend.

The screws on the stockers have a hole drilled in the end and the last couple threads are peened over to retain the screws. I would recomend RED loctite min. and would rather see you guys use GREEN 609 Loctite. Im going to experament with the new screws and see what it will take to make it so they could be peened over. Its by far the best way to inssure the screws cant back out.
Cheers Zen

One more question do both sets of butterflies open at the same angle/at the same time? i.e bottom one opens 20% does the top open the same-20%?

Sounds great to me though put me down for a set too need my bike dyno'in at some point anyway, still using Klinks Motobox Map.

I decided not to stop there and things got interesting

Here's one of the maps from Dynojet, this is for a Stock ECU map, Akras with no baffles

You can see that they richen it up through more of the rev range and throttle openings than with the akra map, with the bulk of the richening happening from about 3000 revs.

Image
Now the plot thickens even more when you look at this map from dynojet which is based on an akra mapped ecu, this is also for Akra exhausts without baffles, as is the motobox map that I'm using on mine. I tried to keep the same as I could, the only other difference being SAS removal on the motbox map.

You can see on this map that they really richen it up at low revs and at very small throttle openings they add more fuel than on the stock one.

And when you compare to the motobox map, the motobox map actually leans out in more places over the akra map than it richens.

Image

Now obviously these were probably all done on different dynos with different operators and perhaps even different goals in mind but I thought it was interesting none the less.

I also wonder if sas was not removed on the Dynojet Donor Bikes if the additional fresh air would lead to the operator richening up the mixture to even out the air fuel readings but I wasn;t there and I'm no dyno operator but it's just food for thought.

For the most part though, as expected, the akra map appears to be richer than the stock map in the higher rev and throttle openings but a bit leaner at the small throttle openings and low revs which lines up with what I said earlier.

Would be interesting to see all three conditions on the same dyno all with sas removed as I'm intrigued by the additional leaning of the motobox map but not to the point I'd want to throw my money at it to find out, I can live without knowing.
oh bugger! This is interesting! TJ, please email the images to me at bparker at mrpricegroup.com - photobucket and flickr etc blocked here at work and I've blown my cap at home so I won't be able to get them there either.
