pulled over by police 2 times in 2 days!

I wasn't pulled over for breaking any law but I keep getting pulled over because I don't have a plate (so they say)....but I have the dealership plate on it???. I got pulled over yesterday by 2 cops and then agian today by 1 of the same guys!!!! and 2 other cops just so they could check out the bike. It is kind of a hassle. I asked them if any cops would be on a certain section of road for the next half hour and they promised it would be all clear. I hit that section HARD for the next 30 minutes

my license plate finaly came in the mail.

the american plate holes do not line up with the euro mounting locations. has anyone used a backing plate to mount to the bike and then mount the license plate to that? could use the top 2 holes and mount the plate as high as possible and then cut the bottom plastic off to "tidy" things up.

or I could just drill the plate and mount it but it wouldnt look as clean.

I went and bought a piece of stainless steel, about the size/thickness of a standard ruler.

I measured it up, cut it, and bent it carefully with a vice and a pair of vice grips and the edge of the work bench.

Measured it up again and drilled four holes (two that mount to the plate, two more that mount to the fender).

Fits perfectly and looks good.

Looks like this.. (cheap rendering is close except the two lines at the top extend upwards too far, but I don't own a digital camera so use your imageination....) The outer tabs is what the plate bolts onto, the lower cross section is where it bolts to the fender.

You can do this too, just takes about an hour (or less) of your time.

Yeah, I did the same. But I used the piece that had the red reflectors on it since that's never gong back on my bike. I cut it to size and bent it till it fit.
