R1 exhaust conversion

I have been debating the exhaust options for my SD, and since the AUD has gone south I settled on converting stock 2006 R1 muffler to fit the SD.

First thing I noticed is that when I picked them up I nearly put them through the roof as they are so light.

I get the pipe and bends I need and make the rest of it myself.

I will take photos as I go and post them for others.

Let the fun begin!!

The only difference being that I am mounting mine flat like they are on the R1.

Did it today!!!!

Spent the day cutting and welding the bits together and making brackets etc...............!!

Not sure if I like the way it fits because I left the small black cover on but once they are mounted the cover don't seem right. I also have to make 2 hanger for the y-pipe so I can get the mufflers level and the back.

I have taken photos and will post tomorrow along with a video opf the sound, which by the way is not too much louder than stock at idle and a bit louder once as the revs pass 5K.

I will be looking at other mounting options tomorrow.

Still not entirely happy but will have to do for now.





I will be palying around with the stock chrome covers on the side to fill up some of the gap between the side cover and the cover of the R! pipes.

Took it for a ride and it does sound good. I rode around the area and my sone could hear me from quite far off!!!!!

Now with sound!!

And now video of it without the baffles in. Sounds so much throatier now. Love it!!
